Interesting idea and opens up the door for all kinda discussion about religion and non-religious topics alike.

Can they really define consciousness though? What it is that actually makes you you inside that brain of yours.

That's an excellent question! I'm not sure of the answer.

From a psychology perspective, Consciousness refers to individual awareness of unique thoughts, memories, feelings, sensations and environment. These conscious experiences are constantly shifting and changing for each individual.

However, I'm not certain how consciousness would be defined from a physics perspective though because it seems like such an esoteric concept.

Consciousness = awareness -- that is essentially what you're saying, I think?

That is how I view it.

Reading your article-- love this kind of topic. 🙂

Bearing in Mind that the "Scientific" stance is that anything Metaphysical or Psychic is the result of Hallucination or self-delusional I wonder how it can ever be linked.
Science has a basic premise that to prove anything it must be able to be reproduced by anyone in a scientific environment anywhere in the World on demand. Which makes as much sense as saying that the skill of a Concert Pianist cannot be real because you can't sit just anyone in front of a piano and have them instantly play Classical Music.
Science will never accept Psychic or Metaphysical occurrences for that reason alone. Yet, the Military have spent Millions of Dollars on Remote Viewing etc.
The fact is that a few people possess incredible ability witnessed and proven by many but the majority cannot do any of these things.
Let's keep it that way !!!

Although I find this concept fascinating, I'm having some difficulty understanding the following:

How can a person link consciousness (i.e. the "soul") to physics when it presumably is not made up of particle matter (i.e. neither matter nor antimatter)?

From a mathematical perspective, I fully understand that more than 4 dimensions (space and time) can and do exist in our universe.

On the other hand, quantum mechanics is based on the precept that it is impossible to measure the momentum AND location of a particle simultaneously with precision. However, if the soul is NOT made up of particles, how can the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle (and therefore quantum mechanics) even be evoked in the argument?
