He was my first celebrity crush. When I was 9 years old I decided that he was going to be my first husband. Now the tabloids are slamming him for being an hiv positive heroin addict. At one time, he had everything. Why was he so tormented?

I have to be honest, I was more sad when Alan Rickman, (Snape from Harry Potter), David Bowie, Glenn Frey, and Scott Weiland, because I emphasize more with them due to the fact that I loved Alan Rickman's performances, and the music I listened to were Eagles, and stone Temple pilots and David Bowie. I wasn't as moved when Prince passed away, because I didn't listen to his music much.

But these new revelations of him being a heroin addict is new, and not really unbelievable. because I did read on his biography he was heavily addicted. we don't know much. because he is a private person.

we all knew of Scott Weiland's addictions though, so we were not surprised that he passed. He was already in the past a Heroin addict.

It's ridiculous how some celebrities only get praised AFTER they pass away. Imagine how much one would have been laughed at a week ago if they were like, this George Michael song is amazing!

He's been a punchline for years. People are nuts.

I've been openly praising him since third grade and over the last 10 years I have been teased a bit for still playing the old Wham stuff in my car. I don't care. I thought he was amazing.

At the peak of his fame in the 80's and early 90's he was known as a sex symbol. He was gay but kept it hidden because of his image. I understand how that would torment him. He was being true to himself.

BUT

Publicly, his life didn't fall apart until after he came out. That's when he had that bathhouse incident and I believe he was passed out behind the wheel of his car. Was it fleeting fame? A broken heart?

I have a hard time understanding drug addictions. We all know that heroin and other hard drugs will ruin your life, yet people still take them. All sorts of people. Even in my little town, people are od'ing in parking lots on a weekly basis.

Yeah he's great. He played most instruments on his records, not many artists can say that. My comment was not directed at you, just people in general. Value of people rises ONLY when they die.

You are right.

Even Michael Jackson was ridiculed until his death.

Remember his song Freedom? It was about him rejecting his sex symbol status. But I saw it as him coming out to the rest of the world. I was extremely closeted at the time, and the lyrics made a lot of sense to me. Yet it took me another 4 years to accept myself.

"I think there's something you should know

I think it's time I told you so

There's something deep inside of me

There's someone else I've got to be

Take back your picture in a frame

Take back your singing in the rain

I just hope you understand

Sometimes the clothes do not make the man

All we have to do now

Is take these lies and make them true somehow

All we have to see

Is that I don't belong to you

And you don't belong to me.."

Fun fact: the studio had not yet completed producing Robbie's version, but they needed to finish the music video asap, so Robbie instead lip-synced to George's original version.

I listened to him while growing up.. so I am emotionally attached to his songs, but then, my sadness is more like 'respectful' sadness, I can't explain... like, it's more a feeling of respect that someone has departed and then listening to his music only makes me feel that way more, we do feel some respect right.. when it's something(like watching or listening to their art) related to someone who died..

I won't lie, I am easily swayed by such feelings, I cried a lot when MJ passed and also feel sad - i do cry sometimes when it's other celebs/personalities/PEOPLE too(yeah yeah , sounds like BS but excuse me, I do tear up easily % -} ). it wasn't sadness that he died, but an overwhelming feeling - the way a dead man's work has touched millions, besides myself, they were here and now just gone leaving behind all their art/work. You do feel overwhelmed right, seeing/listening to a dead person's art/life/story?

he had a Capricorn sun mother too, I remember doing her chart because her obituary is open, (but his father's is more secret and not open to the public) and it was written in his biography that he was more FEARFUL of what she thought of his sexuality and gave him deep anxiety.

it seemed to me,he really loved his mother a lot, and wanted to please her and didn't want to disappoint her deeply. like he felt super restricted. But I can tell he loves her a lot and therefore his inner turmoil.

edit

I went to look for it.

he really didn't want her to worry in the times /era that was raging when AIDS was prevalent and he knew how his mother would be like. She would worry like hell! I think during his era, was when so many died of aids, and even his beloved boyfriend died of aids. I think later he made peace with it.

....."on his mother

I struggled with huge depression after my mother died. Losing your mother and your lover in the space of three years is a tough one"
