say more baby, id like to hear that mercury talk. What do you think about the lyrics of some rap songs & does it make you see things differently as a guy? Do you even listen to such songs & start to wonder?
IT does. I mean when I hear females saying "Im the baddest bytch" "your hos aint fckin with my hos bytch" etc referring to fellow women like that, what am I to think? Ima call you a hieux LOL treat you like one too.
Also a lot of women talk big talk like ni99as ain't shyt this and that, and then when I get em behind closed doors I have them tonging my balls and doing splits and stuff. So I think on many levels women psyching themselves into false pretenses on top of society telling us men certain things about women.click to expand

I dont because Im grown and its just entertainment. What rappers say to sell and reality are 2 different things. I try to filter what i seriously consider regarding lyrics. Filter in the positive, beneficial part and disregard the nonsense. But still listen to it if it sounds good.click to expand

@Watercup. I see your point about Trina and Lil Kim. But in some strange way I think it makes them feel empowered because they are able to use their "sexiness" to make money. And let's be honest, sex sells. Open up a thread about sex on dxpnet and watch that thing blow up to 10 pages in about 2 hours. LOL. I personally don't listen to Trina so I don't know her lyrics well, and I wouldn't be suprised if they were more nasty than empowering. Lil Kim's lyrics can be whorish as well. But there are certain women *cough "gold diggers", *cough jump offs, *cough chickenheads, who identify with their persona. Which is why I try not to judge them, because they wouldn't be where they are if they didn't have a fan base that identified with them. But then you got female rappers like Eve who don't rap about just their sexual prowess..where is she by the way? Then you got rappers like Lil Wayne bragging about how many women he sleeps with, which does influence teenage boys. Kids are definitely having sex younger, and boys in particular are teased for not being promiscuous, or if they are too relationship oriented. Despite this, some kids are able to rise above those peer pressures.
I haven't a clue as how to save those who are followers, I've always been kind of a rebel myself. I don't think people are born bad either, yes the media is influential, as is culture, environment, ethnicity, etc. As for the youth, it's up to their parents to control what they listen to at home, and shape who they become. I grew up in a rough neighborhood and could write a few rap songs myself, and hip hop was the dominant music genre in my neighborhood. We moved when I hit my teens, but it still shaped me in some way. I was fortunate to have two very strict parents who made sure I carried my behind to school, and did not spare the rod. From a young age I was always very intellectually curious, and that was encouraged by my family. I had girlfriends who were skipping school, getting high, having sex at 12, I stayed focused, went to college and got my degree. What made me different. How did I escape peer pressure, buck the system, ignore media influences? Was it nature or nurture? I'm still not sure...

Pac.
Jada
u r the omega of my heart
the foundation of my conception of love
when i think of what a black woman should be
its u that i first think of
u will never fully understand
how deeply my heart feels 4 u
i worry that we'll grow apart
and i'll end up losing u
u bring me 2 climax without sex
and u do it all with regal grace
u r my heart in human form
a friend i could never replace

lol @ you're grown. I've seen a lot of 'grown' people pretending to be other people just because the said people are 'cool' to the individual. But, you're right thou, it does need a certain level of maturity so that you dont take things too literally. Anyways, it was just curiosity on my part..nothing less or more.
Thats true. They get new cars and other stuff they cant afford and live lives that arent right for them. Hope I didnt come off as a smart@ss. Thats just the way i look at it as an adult.click to expand

Sorry, you can not compare both and say who is better. Pac is a lyrical master, Biggie was a performer with hi lyrics. Both of them are legends. And I respect both. I leaned toward Biggie, but maybe that is because I am an EC girl and he was more my style .

It's true...and part of what makes them both legends in their rite is the fact that they met their untimely death. Almost like fate.

I agree with the Diddy comment. It would be if Biggie got out on his own an developed his natural talent, whereas, Pac was pretty on his own the whole time.
He was with Digital Underground and then Death Row lets be real
But I agree he could easily stand on his own.click to expand

Ok, so I may be just a lil old white girl, but thanks to my aqua brother who is very openminded, I learned about these 2 artists and listened to their music, watched documentaries about them, etc...
My fave 2 songs from 2Pac are :California Love which was very popular in euro clubs in 90ies and I have tons of fun memories associated with it. And also, DEAR MAMA, which is making me cry right now because I am listening right now
My bro says his best song is "shed so many tears"!
Also, 2 pac shakur is my fellow Gem, so I got lots of love for him. It is truly heartbreaking how and when his life ended...
But my brother told me not to worry, that he still may be alive somewhere, just got tired of fame. Do you guys think this might be true??

Kanye's I don't give a f*ck attitude definitely reminds me of Pac. Maybe its a gemini thing. Whatever Ye's personal issues are, love his music. Seems like there's a Kanye song that fits every treetrunked up moment in my life recently. "It all falls down" "Can't tell me nothing" LOL."Power"

Out on bail. I love his energy on this, so Gemini.
I think Gemini's make the best musicians. I pulled up Tupacs chart once and it showed that he had three planets in Aquarius and mercury in Gemini. Any one else seen his chart?

Welcome to 2000, when this question would have still mattered. Both of these guys died over 15 years ago a piece.
With that said, on a more technical level, Biggie was far better than Pac. Biggie just had better flow and wordlplay, that is no deniable. Pac music was of course more personal and emotional. But in terms of being a more technical wordsmith, Biggie was far beyond 2Pac

he has all 3 air signs (gemini, aquarius & libra), air trine. I read somewhere that a any trine is responsible for fame.
Not to mention its mercury, uranus and mars involved, so its without question going to be genius involved.click to expand

Plus, I remember we had lost a few students that year and maybe a previous year, and they didn't show or honor a lot of them. So, it was especially kind of like, you honor some rapper, but you don't honor an actual students? Where's the priorities?click to expand
