As of late, it seems high-profile murderers and serial killers(I know Manson didn't kill anybody, but even so)have cult followings of troubled fan-girls who send their *fave* criminal romantic letters in prison. Some take their infatuation to the next level and develop official relationships with them, despite obstacles like life sentences, parole ineligibility, or the inmate's pending death-row sentence.

Case in point, George Zimmerman & his wife divorced a few months ago, yet his widespread notoriety post-acquittal didn't seem to hinder his game on the outside--dude's already got a new g/f--whom he allegedly assaulted & was subsequently arrested recently.
Another example...James Holmes(the Batman/movie theater mass-murderer)immediately attracted hordes of rabid fangirls proclaiming their love for him.

What makes this phenomenon exceptionally moronic is the reality that if these men were released from captivity for any length of time, who's to say these lunatic followers wouldn't be considered free game to kill? If anything, the fact these criminals murdered without clear motive suggests fangirls would be equally eligible as their previous victims.
So trife, that serial killers have somehow attained rockstar/celebrity status & dedicated 'fans'. WTF.

Some people will find whatever way to get noticed.
