I think kids should not have phones because they should spend their time outside, not spend their time inside. It's bad for their eyes for kids to have phones. You don't want kids to get bad eyes, and they will spend all day on the phone, so I think kids should not have phones.

My 10 year old has a phone in case he has an emergency and needs to get in touch with someone. He has me, my boyfriend, his dad, stepmom, aunt, and cousin programmed into the phone. that's it.

He loves to get texts from me or his dad when he is at the other's house. If he is missing us, he will text and we can talk anytime he wants.

I got him a simple mobile phone that you can only call or text from. You cannot play games or use the internet from it.

This is the first year he has had a phone. He really doesn't use it that much, I hate paying for it also, but it gives me peace of mind that he can contact someone if he needs to.

My 10 year old has phone BECAUSE he's outside all of the time riding his bike and playing with his friends. I want him to be able to get in touch with me whenever he needs to. There's nothing at all wrong with kids having phones.

Phones are pretty useless nowadays. My last one came pre programmed with so much crap I felt like it made decisions for me.

I hate technology. I can barely use my phone because I'm pretty oblivious about apps and everything. I just want to be able to call people and have a long battery life 🙂)

I agree, but for me it's not even about their eyesight or playing outside, it's more about the bad stuff they could get introduced to while using a phone with internet access. Paedophiles no longer snatch children on the playground, they now lure them in on the internet & that's scary. The other thing I'm worried about is porn, my friend found cartoonish looking porn in her 9 year old son's phone. I'm not sure if he understood what they were doing lol, but it was porn nonetheless.

If I were to buy my own child a phone, for security reason, I'd buy him one without bluetooth or internet access. Nokia 3310. It has games lol, so it's not like it lacks intertainment 😄

I know I can't protect him from everything, but I'll play my part & play it like a pro.
