Them becoming slaves to health insurance companies is karma!!
Not too long ago during my earlier years of college I started getting really bad cystic acne breakouts. They were ridiculous and nonstop. There was this top rated dermatologist in my area that I went to who literally checked me for less than 5 minutes (visit cost $ 100) and prescribed me like $ 300 worth of topical creams, lotion and antibiotic.... they did work for like a year and a half only to later come back. I was told it's most likely hormonal and that I'd either have to take antibiotics on and off all my life (which no one should do, especially at a young age) or just deal with it. Like thanks doc. Love how you gave me false hope by slapping me a temp fix.
I then went to an allergist since shit like gluten sensitivity and lactose sensitivity and all that stuff was becoming trendy. I wanted blood work done for food allergies or sensitivities. They said MDs don't do the lab work that claims that could find those sensitivities for you, private companies do... so they did some general histamine testing on my skin for any reactions to a bunch of stuff like pollen, shellfish, etc. Everything came back negative. Another waste of $ 100.
I then went to the internet and sought out any sites or threads of people with similar issues as me. I of course tried diets ommiting things like dairy and gluten. I still kept getting the damn cystic acne. Then one post forever changed my life... someone somewhere mentioned shellfish caused them cystic acne... at that time I LOVED shrimp and fish and would have it multiple times a week. Seafood was generally known to be good for you, all that Omega 3 and shit you know. But of course I came this far I had to test it...lo' and behol' my cystic acne was cured. Any and all seafood and fish was the root cause of my cystic acne.... the insecurities that I struggled from those motherfuckers I will never forget as well as the useless doctors that I went to for help who just wanted to make their $ 100 per 5 mins...
I sadly have more shitty doctor (specialists particularly - so motherfuckers who get paid way more) stories even though I try to go to the best ones in my area.

My story spanned over couple of decades, multiple doctors (much like yourself op) and all sorts of tests concluding with radioactive tracer injection and laying immovable for two hours in this apparatus.... all for naught! All this high tech and doctors were still baffled as to why my pain under the right rib cage kept on pestering me.
As time progressed, the pain became immobilizing. Until one day, by pure chance, I consulted yahoo answers and found a post by an Indian practicing naturopath who recommended taking digestive enzymes. And just like that, following his suggestion, the crippling pain was cured.
I’m still grateful for doctors though and wouldn’t wish to find myself in a serious predicament without a access to one. 🤷🏻♀️

well, medicine is not a science, somehow people get that wrong all the time.
so medicine is basically just like engineering, and if you know any engineer you will know that most of them, like me, are a bunch of assholes.
but is part of the randomness of the profession.

My grandmother had a massive stroke after her cancer doctor prescribed her with medication that was not suitable for her.
When my mum confronted him about it, all he could say was, "Sorry." Zero effort to mitigate damage.
I was misdiagnosed with gout by two different doctors. I spent the next 6 months adjusting my diet, even though to me, the symptoms didn't seem accurate for gout. Went for a 3rd opinion, THAT doctors diagnosed me with rosacea.
Over the last New Year Eve/New Year Day, my mum went to see 3 different doctors for symptoms of the flu. One of them even suggested she go for a blood test (for H1N1) when her temperature kept going up. Day after New Years Day, she went to see her doctor at work. He diagnosed her with tonsilitis. It's ludicrous how the other 3 doctors missed the obvious infection on her tonsils.
