I exercise but knows that diet is way bigger in losing weight.

Im hypothyroid so I have to watch what I eat even more strictly.

I've noticed that I can eat 1200 cal per day but If a lot of it is sugar I gain weight

where if I eat 1500-1700 cal per day but low in sugar (simple), then I can actually lose weight

Have you guys found anything that worked for you ?

Im trying to lose the last annoying 10 lbs

Don't force your body into starvation mode, your body will store everything and you gain. Make sure you have enough calorie intake to whatever your output is. But yes those empty calories will always mess you up lol

I have hashimotos and have to watch what i eat, as well as working out and make sure my medication is at the correct levels. Paleo is honestly one that has been recommended repeatedly when i have researched it.

Just 10lb?

Funny hon!

Well. I’ve lost 75lb easy and this is how.

Believe it or not - it works and it’s my own invention. I love bread. My husband can’t live without potatoes.

His cardiologist said you have to lose 10lb by next visit in 3 months or...you will never walk your daughter down the isle. Scared me shitless.

We like fish. But baked or grilled doesn’t make us full. So I said fk it! Whiting is our favorite! I’ve fried it in flour and egg batter. With big salad. We had it for 3 weeks!

We haven’t ever ate breakfast. So at about 4pm lots of fish and salad.

Result was amazing!

Out cleaning lady said we were crazy and will turn into mermaids! Lol

After 3 weeks I saw his eyes popping for potatoes! We cheated! And he could only eat 1 1/2 instead of 3 he would normally gobble! That was cool! So stomach shrunk! It wouldn’t take 3 potatoes anymore! He was 260ln and I was 250lb.

I was wondering what else we can eat.

Ok! Baked chicken breast makes me hungry! So we baked shucked with skin to a crispy state when it’s awessome with garlic! And ketchup and other sauces...

No bread nor potatoes!

Only once a months!

They I thought SEAFOOD! So I made gumbo with all seafood imaginable in half and half white sauce and dry garlic bread soaking into it! Went like a show!

I’ve lost quicker. He was struggling but one day he went on a scale and yelled’

He had lost 25lb in one day! But it wasn’t...those lbs went down in one day because body was holding on and gave up in one night!

My observation. Eat whatever you like. Fat or no fat BUT see that food on your table as a quantity! If you eat 20 apples - your stomach growing as big as 20 apples!

And you still hungry!

Eat a burger and enjoy it but don’t do it 3 times per day!

All I am saying is! AMOUNT of food you consuming makes your stomach stretched! Not spoon of lard!

Eat ton of healthy food and your stomach will grow because of the AMOUNT of good food you put in.

It’ll stretch...

So idea is - enjoy whatever you want - just imagine HOW EVER MUCH you put IN - that’s what your body will show!

If you want cake - eat the cake! But not after you had appetizer, main course and then cake!

Skip all and enjoy your cake with coffee!

You can have steak tomorrow. But no cake after. Or...small steak and tiny cake!

Your choice! Don’t stretch your stomach!

It can get you to be 600lb!

Who want THAT?

Thanks for all your advice .

The issue with losing the last 10 lbs is almost mostly vanity reason . And since I’m at a fairly healthy weight it’s hard because being short my maintenance calories is only 1300 which mean all I can do is exercise . There’s only so much I can cut And there’s only so much exercise i can do

I just wanna get rid of the belly rolls when I wear clothes gahhhh

No. I'm 5'2 and never ate so much when I was losing. It's what you eat and not restricting calories.

Shoot for 1800 calories and no processed food, no gluten, grains, no soy. Try to incorporate lots of natural fats like coconut oil, avocado. Make sure you eat a small portion of protein with a large portion of veggies. Only 1/4 of your plate should be animal protein amd 3/4 of the plate should be greens with some sort of fat. Put butter on your steak and olive oil on your greens.

I think I was doing 60% fat, 20% non starchy carbs, and 20% protein and I lost 7lbs a month for 6 months. I ate nuts, cheese for snacks, any/all vegetables (limited potatoes), avocado, bacon, steak, salmon, etc. I saute just about everything in bacon fat. Lipid profile is perfect, no nutritional deficiencies.

That's because you have probably reached your ideal weight already without noticing it and your body refuses to lose additional weight, which is probably waterweight. The last 10 lbs are the hardest anyway.

Drink 2-3 liters of water each day, coffee without sugar and eat lots of low carb veggies like broccoli, spinach and cauliflower, it will boost your metabolism and make you lose water weight as well.

I have never tried to diet in my life, but I believe anything in moderation is the key.. I watch so many people try different diets and they are all so different.. One believes that gluten is devil and avoids it at all costs, yet the next can eat gluten and swears it's the meat or the dairy.. Our bodies are all different and react differently, what works for one doesn't always work for another. I don't believe in avoiding certain foods, just everything in moderation.
Hypothyroidism is different, usually caused by autoimmune, which pretty much means gluten intolerance at minimum, many have silent Celiac.

The "normal" healthy diet of not drinking sodas/pops/includes diet; I lost 8 pounds in a year.

The "normal" healthy diet of not eating 3-4 hours before I fall asleep at nights.

The "normal" healthy diet of drinking water all day.

The "normal" healthy diet of not eating at fast food restaurants.

The "normal" healthy diet of having a protein smoothie each and every morning.

The "normal" healthy diet of eating my fruits and veggies.

The "normal" healthy diet of drinking one glass of white wine w/dinner.

The "normal" healthy diet of drinking black java; and NOT from Starbucks.

😆 plain and simple.

🤗 cyber hugs!

Love,

Eva

Side note for people: thyroid problem summary means your metabolism is slow because you dont have enough TSH to regulate your metabolism. It also makes you tired and some minor irritating daily annoyances

what makes it hard is Im a healthy person to begin with. Only drink water, hates soda, eats a lot of fruit and vegetable. exercise 3 times a week with some weight training. the typical dietary change that most people make that result in weight loss, I can't. make those change because I already function with those "healthy" habits.

thus making being healthier in order to lose weight a hard feat as im already initially pretty healthy that for my body it's actually its normal. I now exercise 5 times per week.

My habits have not changed other than more stress in college and this thyroid problem. eating the same but I put on 15 lbs all of the sudden. No one knew because I didn't look like someone who gained 15lbs but I felt it in my clothes. thats when I had the hormone panel done and found out about the thyroid problem . Been trying to lose for the last 6 months. got 5 lbs off but the last 10 will not budge .

Im thinking I need to shock my body and surprise it or something :p which is why im curious about intermittent fasting. Even though from the way im understanding, I have have been practicing intermittently fasting for a large part of my teenage years lol.

The last 10 is the hardest. Pay for a trainer. You need to be confusing your body right now and keeping it off balance so that those last pds drop off. Your normal standard workout isn’t going to do it.

There are many variations of it but I am doing the one where you eat everything you want (though not in excess) for 8 hours and then you fast for 16 hours. At the beginning it’s hard and it takes some time to get used to but it’s very effective if you want to lose weight.

This is an EXCELLENT write up from a group that I trust and have belonged to for 4 years. So many success stories of remission and really great advice from members, and results not just for weight loss but for overall health with hypothyroidism. It's specific to thyroid problems and since 90% of all hypothyroidism is caused by an autoimmune disease, it will likely apply to you. Even if you don't have Hashimoto's, the suggestions do apply to hypothyroidism in general.
