Isn't it time beauty pageants should stop?

Beauty pageants glorify the outer beauty and not the person as a whole. There is no need for a swimsuit segment there. But still people are continuing these. They rarely focus on the cerebral part of the person. It is all about objectification.
Money maker. Definitely won't stop
Anything with showbiz/media sells based on how beautiful or sexually appealing it is. It's not like news anchors are solely hired on how proficient they are with articulating themselves.
I think people need to stand against these things. A person dressed appropriately for the job and and having the required skills should be promoted rather than just outer beauty. It is too shallow. I know glamour sells but people don't realize it is just like getting drunk. They are setting a wrong example for the future generations and not encouraging other aspects of a person's character.

I dont know. I saw most of this year's miss Universe. Looks were involved but it was also about what they were doing, how they answered questions, etc. which went into it. Even as a spectator I took all that into account. There are elements of the "whole picture".

I think the problem with b. pageants has more to do with sexism and stereotypes, narrow minded ppl thinking beauty is represented by one type of person (woman).
But is still important; we all are attracted to it, to deny it is hypocrisy. However, the concept of beauty is wide, a face, a body, personality, mind, a landscape, feelings, a poem.

I think what's criminal is a society which promotes beauty as women main asset. If this disappeared, beauty pageants and all this crap would disappear as well. System must change.
But when do I have supported this? I'm just theorizing about beauty as a concept which includes many areas.

beauty is to be celebrated. you can celebrate it perhaps too much. you are suggesting to not celebrate it at all,

you do not look more deep than others pretending to not care about beauty. you seem miserable.

It seems all too shallow to appease the hormonal boys and men to get money. Am just against the objectification on the basis of beauty and there is no need for swimsuit rounds. Are you saying those 40+ year old judges need to see a woman in a swimsuit to judge her beautiful?
Also you are born a certain way you can't change your physical features as such but still you will be judged on that. Don't you see the wrong in here?
