Is there anybody else on here who shares my strong feeling for/interest in this era? As I was born in 1958 it was a bit before my time but for some reason I seem to have a feeling of it having been a very romantic era. In particular the musical Guys and Dolls (first stage production 1950, film 1955) seems to have made a very deep impression on me since first having seen the film as a teenager.
It??s called REAL nostalgia??_.

It was era which life had meaning, people had hope and look forward to future, kid respected their parent, women were still women, no fucking feminist fascists, no political correctness, we still had liberty/freedom of speech and freedom of thought, normal movies was tool of pure entertainment and not propaganda and brain washing tools, people meet each other every day in every occasion instead of hiding behind fucking monitors.
Marriages meant something special to everyone, family life had great meaning, politician worked for the people and not completely corrupted and sold out like cheap whores as they are now, things you bought was made to last eternity instead of cheap shit you get nowadays in which next hour they are expired already.
Food was still made of (real food materials) instead of crap we buy in packages nowadays, music was genuinely based on talents and not this crap we listen to day in and day out, people could travel where ever they wished for freely without being their butt hole gets raped by some airport psycho security agents.

Feel free to add more on the list??_..
Me Three! Basically I wish I was born in 1935. Then I'd get to experience the three most amazing decades in the history of mankind - the 50's, 60's and the 70's. Then I'd hang myself in 1984 because it's about then that all things cool started getting out of style .....
The 1950's was an era of both hope and disillisionment. The good thing was that The Great War had ended, the bad thing was knowing that human kind was capable of such monstrosity and destruction. I love that contrast. Hope and disillusionment.
How about it Geminicandlelight, you wanna crawl up against me in your best jammy and we can watch old movies till we crash? How about 'A Streetcar Named Desire' or a couple of episodes of 'The Twilight Zone'? smile

I found this hilarious! I've actually seen the scene they are mocking, I believe it was 'Out of the Past', in which Robert Mitchum walks into a room with his pants pulled up all the way to his old-man-tits so that he may look more muscular. In those days, no actor would ever consider actually working out for a part, LOL.

(We should probably rip eachothers clothes off and get it over with. It's been long overdue already!)
I love Marlon Brando, he's my favourite actor of that time. I 'discovered' him when I was like 14.
Such a typical Aries too (Sun, Moon & Mercury!).

I bet Marlon hated Scorpio women's cooking too! ;P
My favorite is the attire from that era. So elegant, classy yet simple. Not trashy.
No worries, Gem. I'm sure one day you'll get what's coming to you. Winking
