Groening, Conan O'Brien, Jay Leno and the rest were superb when they were the writers and inspiration behind the Simpsons' Seasons 1-9.
However, things changed quickly when all of these talented men left the show for more focused pursuits. Groening went to Futurama, and Leno/O'Brien went to their TV programs.
Since Season 10 and beyond, the show has become a shell of itself wherein it seems as though the local janitor and ditch digger are the ones writing the scripts.

Clooney made south park possible.
Leno and O'Brien used to write scripts for the show.
I find it hard to believe about George Looney-Tunes making South Park possible. Matt Parker and Trey Stone are hardly the same politically as the hard-left beliefs of Looney Tunes Clooney.
