Men: What's your drink of choice? And, what do you think about beer? Do you like it?

The reason I ask is I'm from the south and most men here either drink beer or something manly like Scotch or Whiskey. There seems to be a negative attitude about men who drink fruity drinks or wine coolers, as if something is wrong with them. My thoughts are ya like what ya like. lol!

Just curious about other people's opinion.

That seem to have summed it up for me lol. I usually drink a whole lot of everything but those are my go to drinks because they're easy 😛

As for girly drinks? Don't think they exist tbh, alcohol is alcohol to be whichever way I can take it lol.

White russian baby.

As for beers yeah I like all sorts, from the belgian ones right down to Corona. Although I doubt they respect Corona in the deep south.

And I'm just going to throw Snozzy under the bus right here and now by letting you all know he drinks cosmopolitans!

yes!! I love white russians...I don't even care haha

We are the dudes of the world *high five*

I love the middle point of that scene where he gets shoved into the other limo after getting out of that one, and yet somehow still manages to keep a hold of the drink

And that killer line, "I've got a berverage here, man"

You'd think that getting himself shoved into a car by a stranger would be a bigger problem than spilling the beverage, lol!

Actually, Scotch is whiskey, as is bourbon. But they are distilled very differently. I've been told that Scotch is an acquired taste. I've never acquired it, though I will drink it to be polite if that is what my host is offering.

DJ you are the first person I've heard to know this! I've always dreaded when foreigners order whiskey from my bar when they meant bourbon but had no idea when I asked them "Bourbon or Scotch" lol 😛

My favourite quick-fix is something I came up with myself, though I'm sure it already existed before my time. It's basically hot chocolate-milk mixed with cognac or whisky - plenty of chocolate and at least 30% cognac! I usually go 50/50 myself. It should sting!

I know, what a waste of perfectly good cognac, right? 😛 ...but the chicks love it! Takes 'em out in no time, lol.

Seriously? This is the first time I hear people not knowing! :-)

I think it depends on where you're from. I just notice with a lot of the Americans they'd order "whiskey" and get a bit upset when I try to clarify which one they wanted 😛

Then going back to Asia (in Taiwan) All you see is "Whiskey" on the menus and you ask their bar staff no one could tell you the difference between the two.

*shrugs* In any case I prefer bourbon over scotch definitely need an acquired taste for scotch methinks.

My Libra mostly drinks Heineken when we are out...or car bombs and jager bombs (gross)

He is not above a strawberry daiquiri...one of his favorite drinks is this fruit punch drink.
He's not one of those dudes who feels the need to prove how many he is. He's quietly masculine.

Oh man they banned jagerbombs here! And hey +1 to strawberry daiquiries! It better be frozen and come with a umbrella on the side 😄 mmmm alcoholic slurpeeeees.

Scotch

- Distilled at a Scottish distillery from water and malted barley to which only other whole grains may be added.
- Processed at the distillery into a mash (mixture of cooked grains and water).
- Converted to a fermentable substrate only by endogenous enzyme systems (malt).
- Fermented only by the addition of yeast.
- Distilled to an alcoholic strength of less than 94.8% by volume so that it retains the flavor of the raw materials used in production.
- Matured in Scotland in oak casks for not less than three years.
- Not contain any added substance other than water and caramel coloring.
- Be bottled at not less than 40% ABV (alcohol by volume).

(Single Malt Scotch must be distilled at a single distillery from water and malted barley without the addition of other cereal grains by batch distillation in pot stills.)

Bourbon

- Produced from a fermented mash of not less than 51% corn.
- Distilled at not greater than 160 proof.
- Stored at not more than 125 proof in new, charred oak containers.
- Bottled at not less than 80 proof with nothing added during processing but pure water.
- A product of the USA.

(Straight Bourbon Whiskey must be aged at least two years in new, charred white oak barrels. Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon Whiskey must be produced at one distillery during one distilling season, aged a minimum of four years in a federally-bonded warehouse, and bottled at 100 proof.)

***side note***
'Scotch Whisky' is generally regarded as having a smoky character, though this is not universally accurate; flavors vary widely among brands.

'Bourbon Whiskey' is generally perceived as being sweeter than other whiskies due to the high percentage of corn used in the mash bill and the use of new oak barrels, which retain all of their original sugars.

Trick question- Can you spot the differences in the production process? There in lies your answers to the difference between Bourbon and Scotch, for those that do not know 🙂

He's a Libra. Honestly it becomes pretty clear to us early in life not to try and prove any masculinity we may have. We can barely see it ourselves half the time unless others point it out. Otherwise it's just time to embrace the inner daiquiri 😛

lol it's the perfect balance of masculinity.

He knows how to fix my car...not afraid to get his hands dirty...he's military, so he knows how to use a gun and could take you down by your pinky....but HELL YEAH he likes daiquiris...they're good. 😛

He likes my hello kitty snuggie too.
I have photographic evidence.

@BT: was that toothpaste mixture blue? lol! Forgot what it was called but lime, appliejuice, blue curacao, vodka, sugar seemed to taste like that 😛

And briiii tell me of this idea!

well it wasn't that cool, I just thought it was at the time I guess...lol

It was for a bar top...kind of like what 3form does... they would be laminated between two pieces of glass... and backlit. The light shining through them would make some pretty cool shadows...plus it would be really fun and colorful.

Haha exactly the reason why I don't believe in photographs. Used to buy an ex stuffed toys whenever I was on a layover to visiting her in Spain. Then she'd take her mobile and photograph me if I feel asleep clutching them.

Bling doesn't like bright or pastel coloured pants however, whereas I do.

And on Balmy's topic, I once made a Christmas punch that people told me tasted like mouthwash. They still downed it though. It did the job it was there to do.

Lol @ bright colored pants...as long as they don't have polka dots or anything

No polka dots. Although that would be an interesting way to raise the stakes.

Ordering straight hard liquor in polkadot pants. Hm.

A 6"5 man in bright or pastel colored pants with a polka dot print, who has 'pecs' whom he worries about, depending on whether the shirt would flatter them or not on that specific day...ordering a drink.

What a sight that would be, hmm.

What brand of bourbon? My fav is Blanton's Single Barrel Kentucky Bourbon when I get can my hands on it. It's worth the effort.

I've yet to find a bourbon with which I've been impressed. I shall have to see if I can't locate a watering hole where I can give this a taste test.

A friend of mine is a master distiller, he's going to teach me how to make the stuff this summer. For the record though, of course, I'd NEEEVVVEER ever do anything contrary to the law of the land like turn some spare copper sheet into a small still, silver solder it together, ferment a corn mash, distill off the alcohol, and age it in a charred oak cask of my own making. Nope, no sir, I'd never ever do such a thing, in case any authorities may be reading this.

lol

The more ridiculous the law, the more it needs breaking.
