It’s recently come to my attention things are like really, realllly bad out there.
This girl from a fairly-well off family was thrown a birthday bash by her parents. She had a secret boyfriend who I guess couldn’t attend but never even bothered wishing her a happy birthday in the first place. Due to that she hung herself the next day…
This one girl is doing great in her career. She got this really nice apartment all on her own that she and her boyfriend live in. She bought her boyfriend a nice sports car. Her boyfriend was completely financially depended on her. One day when they go partying she catches her boyfriend hooking up with her “best friend.” She confronts him but he tells her he can party with whoever he wants?? She gets so severely heartbroken she shortly kills herself over this…
These stories led to me find out even a young cousin of mine tried to overdose on some prescription medication over some stupid worthless, guy. I also know a close friend of mine’s older sister who went over the edge after her divorce in her early 20s and overdosed on her prescription medications many times that required taking her to the ER. Clearly a cry for help/attention. She really needs to be sent away to a program for healing but her parents won’t do that because social stigma. Instead they like throwing way too many get-togethers to show off a perfect family facade??
All this is so insane?? I do my best to empower the women in my life with the mantra that they can always find a new and better man whenever they want. Obviously it took my own handful of experiences to get to this thought process. Thank God at no point was I so concerningly self-defeating as all these kids in their early 20s. How does one raise their child to cope better with life or love to the point where they never easily consider suicide as an option? Especially over the most pathetic guys in the world?! Like where did these parents go wrong?

I blame it on social media pressure and the pressures to have the perfect life style from the outside. I don't understand how this type of thing happens and why kids don't have common sense to know that things will get better.
It's like this is the only alternative. How are parents not teaching coping skills this to kids? Nothing should ever get that bad, that this is the only option. It's so sad.
More and more kids are doing it too. even with the pressure of getting good grades and playing sports.
It's CRAZY!! The fight to be perfect and if you aren't, you end it.
We are all humans with flaws, nothing will ever be perfect.
