Trying to get motivated, i'm back on the scene and feeling a bit shaky lol! Indulge me, I must immerse myself into this interview world again...all comments welcome. Try to keep em clean!
Be confident, research the company and the position. Know why you're the best pick and be able to relay that if asked. Stay positive as all times. Have solid references if asked. Be able to explain how your past work history is relatable to the position you're applying for currently.

Posted by MyStarsShineYes a few years. I done some travelling then concentrating on my own projects which are now pretty stable and predictable. Just a feeling a little rusty when it comes to the corporate world. Forgot its a whole other language! At least it also pretty predictable and I dont have such a bad memory. Some revision here and there will do me good.

I'm not sure what field you are in...but..having been on both sides of interviewing before:
Research the company well, to understand the culture and vision.
Prepare scenario and behavioral examples for how you would deal with situations and people...STAR - specific situation, task, action, and result of the situation you are describing.
Prepare to show what makes you stand out from others with similar education and experience, what value you bring that others can't, based on the company, department or job..how you can make a difference.
Prepare to discuss your strengths and weaknesses, especially showing how your weakness can actually be a strength or what you've learned from it.
Do not talk badly about previous employers, even if there were negative things you dealt with.. focus on the positive and what skills you've gained from various situations.
Mention attributes that make you a strong team player, how you adapt and work with others to achieve a goal together. Everyone loves a team player.
Good luck! Interviewing is stressful but can be invigorating. You'll do great!!

I have started one (selling art in a gallery) and it is much easier than i thought. The second one will start in the Summer...doing readings in a cool cafe (Gypsy Rose Star haha). Try and relax before you go and remember to smile. My mother used to say to me *you could get any job, anywhere with that smile*. I asked the manager to give me a trial for a few days, to see if it would work out for both of us....i don't know if you could do the same? Posted by MyStarsShineA trial is such a good idea and also something that has been on my mind, it worries me to think of committing to a company/management I have no experience with and because I am abroad I also have the headache of having to transfer company visas etc. I guess I can consider it the probationary period!
