(I would've thrown this topic in the "Man Cave" but its too dam early for me to be trying to explain why the heck I'm invading THEIR space! Brain function & typical quick-witted response function only at 60% right now...lol!)

Anyway, being a Las Vegas native sometimes you can't help but to follow these kinds of fights. I've never personally bet on them but I've had many friends and family take these kinds of bet. Roy Jones Jr was a personal favorite of mine and I actually loved watching his fights.
When it comes to Pacquiao and Mayweather however, I'm truly unsure who has the ultimate advantage and who will more than likely win. I keep hearing Pacquiao is quicker (which I think so as well) but Mayweather is the best counter-puncher (which is a huge advantage for him). I also hear HBO is charging $ 100 - $ 150 to watch it, which I'm still unsure if I'm going to watch it. If I had to bet though....I'd put my money on Pacquiao.

Who wins?

this will be the most gambled fight in history.

Don...you are absolutely correct! Hotels that normally go for $ 40/night and aren't even on the main strip are going for anywhere from $ 1000 and upward a night this weekend...not minding the money their taking in on bets!!! One of my sister's has worked at the MGM for over 20yrs and is working fight night as well. They've already said if you don't have a ticket to the fight AND are not staying at the hotel that you will be immediately escorted off the premises! NEVER in the history of MGM fights (Mike Tyson's included) have they ever implemented such a thing! The betting houses are stacked insane right now with Mayweather favorited to win by split decision. So much hype around this fight it's unreal! But it will most definitely be a good one and people are definitely going to get their money's worth!

Half way though the fight Mayweather flips out, his camp slides a chair into the ring, coach gets up on the canvas to distract the ref and Mayweather with a chairshot to Pacquaio. 1 2 3 bah gawd Mayweather is the undisputed WWF champion. But why like this? Why, Mayweathey, why??

Hey Tiz...gtsy as usual...LOL! I am going to be livid if this fights goes down like this prediction...LOL!

Close early rounds for Manny, his movement, angles and volume overwhelm Floyd in the beginning. In the middle rounds Floyd adjusts to Manny, gets his timing down to cruise to a decision

or

Manny out hustles Floyd. Floyd is more accurate but Manny simply out punches him. Floyd get hit the most he's ever been hit in his career. Manny's consistent pressure gives him the W

Then we get a rematch

🙂

Slick....If it gets down like the former bold print....then Manny my dear is going to have a problem since Mayweather is very well known for adjusting to fighters in the earlier/middle rounds. This is my fear for Manny...still hoping he wins though!

Tell us your favourite beer next time Isis we'll be sure to stock it in the bar.

LOL Tiz...that's wsup! Any German or English-style brown ale will do the trick or just a good ol fashioned Budweiser will do me just fine! 😉

U know Tiz.......an old close friend/co-worker I knew was Mayweather Sr.'s gfriend for several yrs and he beat on her just like Jr did with his when he landed in jail (apple doesn't fall too far from the tree there). However, when Jr was just a young buck my best friend and I met & hung out w/ Sr relatives and just happen to meet Sr that way not knowing he was their kin....and he, Sr., was a bit self-absorbed then & was always known for talking a bunch of *ish whenever we all hung out.....I see nothing has changed there...lol! I've watched several of Jr's and Manny's old fights and I would say if Manny can force Jr to try and fight him while backing up in his stance (which he so loves to do against the ropes to set-up his opponent coming out w/ that right-hand lethal counter-punch), that he stands a better chance at making it go the full 12 rounds. Jr is good at backing up into those ropes in a defense stand but not trying to fight simultaneously. However, like a mini Tyson, if Jr's right catches him more than a few times....its going to be over for Manny. Manny's going to have to do one helluva job sticking & moving alot faster than Jr...which I'm not all that confident he will be able to the entire fight unfortunately! (Still rooting for Manny though!...lol)

To be honest I have only seen the first couple of Pacquiao Marquez fights and I've never seen a Pacquiao fight in full.

The only two fighters I've really followed over the last 5 or more years: Cotto and Mayweather.

Cotto because I was really digging him falling constantly into deep philosophy while training in pink atyire. Yhere is something deeply totured about that guy.

I just think Mayweathers defemce is too strong for anyone.

Tiz...I've never seen a Cotto fight, however, you are 100% correct....Mayweather is one of the BEST defense fighters of all time in my opinion....a very skilled patient tactition is what I like to refer to him as. Knowing this I never understood why he only fought boxers where he stood at least a 75% - 80% greater chance of winning. That part of his character is a HUGE disappointment. At least 5yrs ago I believe Pacquiao would've at least stood a 50% of winning. But again, Mayweather constant "running" from boxers that he knows have a 50/50 chance of winning is just not in his blood. Sr. was never that way during his boxing career so I think he gets that scariness from his mom...LOL!

Mayweather vs Pacquiao

After years of speculation and months of hype, I still don't care. If you thought you waited a long time to see this fight, it'll feel even longer to get a decision.
And let's be honest, when Pacquiao winds up to land that one punch that can knock out Mayweather, you could take a bathroom break, and get back to your seat before he's landed it. This fight reminds me of the Kentucky Derby, if the favorite horse ran away from the other horses the entire time.
You ever hear your father talk about how he used to be great at something, then you see him play and he's just your dad and you want him to stop? That's this fight.
But you want a prediction and I won't disappoint. During the fight, someone is going to sleep. Me.

LOL Clooney.....as always...I can always count on u to never disappoint me with ur pearls of wisdom...LMAO!!! 🙂😉

I've been watching professional boxing since the late 70s - early 80s, and first let me say last night fight felt like I was watching two old boxing geriatrics run for 12 rounds on treadmills on level 2...... f**k it let me give both of them a bit more credit....level 3....LOL!!! That was one of the most HORRIBLE fights I've seen in professional boxing!

However,of course Mayweather won.......a "RUNNER" will always win when HE "picks/chooses" who he will fight and who he refuses to fight and "when"......DUH!!!!!! Not really saying much in the way of pisces fighters....and not something I would be too quick to brag on. If in the same room you had Sugar Ray Leonard (Taurus), George Foreman (Capricorn), Mike Tyson (Cancer), and Floyd Mayweather Jr (Pisces) you'd be able to sing the old Sesame Street song "One Of These Kids (Is Not Like the Others)":

One of these kids is not like the others,
One of these kids just doesn't belong,
Can you tell which kid is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?

....Three of these kids belong together
Three of these kids are one in the same
But one of these kids is doing his own thing
Now it's time to play our game
It's time to play our game.

**Anyone who knows some history on all of these boxers will easily get it...LOL!

(just a lil jab there my fellow Pisceans)....no real harm....LOL!!! 😉

most unsatisfying fight in history.

Gayweather is not a champion boxer...he's a champion blocker and runner.

"I got money doe" cool. go fuck yourself with "yo money".

+1 Agreed....

mayweather is not a knockout artist, he is known for being agile, but he is good at gauging his opponents movement and mirroring.

Lol @ all the butthurt feelings in here from the casual fans..if you were a true fan of boxing, then you already knew what to expect from mayweather, so in reality the only person who was dissapointing was Pacquiao

pacman was swinging like crazy in the early rounds(which also showed his shoulder was just fine), realized he wasnt effective and then became neutralized by mayweathers style..

but dont mind me, im enjoying the abundance of white tears that resulted due to this fight

Damen you're a child

not as childish as the cacs who reacted in this manner after mayweather won..

http://melanoidnation.org/twitter-explodes-with-racist-comments-aimed-at-mayweather-after-his-victory-over-pacquiao/<BR>
The "N" word was tweeted by thousands of twitter users during the #MayPac fight. Hashtag charts showed the timeline of the word nigger on twitter and how it peaked directly after it was announced that Mayweather was the winner.

Curious.

Who were the white draws in the 80's?

Hager, Hearns, Leonard, Duran, Holmes, Tyson, Camacho, Chavez were the ones I remember.

Gerry Cooney is about the only white guy I can name.

Damen.....Mayweather is not ALOT of people cup of tea....his unfavored stats right now are about 67% ....and that's from all across the board. Alot of it simply has to do with his "character" as a human being. He is one of the best defensive tacticians in boxing, however, he's had a history of "running' from fighters that stood to give him a good run for his money and a history of "abusing women" (even his son's police statement in his own writing is all over the web...which is actually kind of shameful IMO). Being from LV, we have an open book when it comes to criminal charges...and he was charged at least by 6 "different" women, at least serving time in jail. His dad I knew personally and was the same way with "abusing women" back in the 80s - 90s, so I wasn't surprised when Jr's accusations came to light (again...apple doesn't fall too far from the tree). Not alot of people period would get behind a person known for these repeated "accused" acts from 6 different women he was personally involved with. We also see how the NFL laid the gauntlet down with this type of behavior recently, only wish that boxing would treat it the same way.....but that'll never happen, so as it stands he'll continue walking unscaved with a record only he and very few that admire him can and will be proud of. I don't knock those who like him, but I'm just not one of those people....along with the other approx. 67% .

I'd hate to have to score these fights for the same reason there are still people out there that don't understand the brilliance of Mayweather, and the fact that he is probably the best defensive fighter of all time. His estimation of his opponents range is so good, he is often merely an inch away from the end of their punch, or just getting grazed after his shoulder deflects. In their flurries, if they can even get them off (Pac clearly couldn't), it often looks like they are landing. If you are watching their fists, and not his face, you'll miss it. You really need to watch the replays to catch, not only his defense, but also the speed of his counters:

Not to mention....

Makes the most amount of money in the sport, takes the least amount of damage, still undefeated at this age, one of the most accurate punchers ever....Forget about the fact that he is basically the Bruce Lee of boxing, accomplishing all of the above with a completely unconventional style that is redefining the art of the sport, being mimicked by other professionals, and now actively taught in the gyms.

their was none, which is one of the reasons why I would agree that the 80's was indeed the best overall era in boxing..But, their wasn't a fighter like mayweather in the 80's either..

he is a one of kind fighter that I've never seen before..pernell whitaker maybe the only boxer close to floyd, but even he wasn't as good as mayweather in terms of defense and wasn't as quick.

I made some scoring for martial arts in my youth. It was interesting, a very different process from just watching the fight and I can understand how the results can be confusing for people who think that a blow that makes a lot of noise must be a point, but a lot of the punches and kicks are just discounted because they don't connect at all or they hit a forbidden area or sthg.

Good article discussing CompuBox stats on Mayweather:

http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/7780088/floyd-mayweather-jr-measures-boxing-greats<BR>
"'Hit and don't get hit,'" goes the old adage in boxing. And from a statistical perspective, at least, it seems no one is better at living up to that credo than Floyd Mayweather Jr...

"Mayweather's average connect rate of 46 percent, compiled during his past nine fights (a "prime" designated by CompuBox), ranks as the best among current active fighters...

"More impressive than Mayweather's own connect percentage is that of Floyd's opponents against him. They land a mere 16 percent of punches thrown, the lowest collective figure recorded in CompuBox's 4,000-fight database...

"CompuBox stats suggest Mayweather sits high atop a pile of fighters whose numbers were measured during their designated primes, tabulated using ringside figures and fight films. In a plus/minus comparison, greats such as Marvin Hagler (plus-17 percent) and Sugar Ray Leonard (plus-13 percent) don't come close. Roberto Duran (plus-8 percent), Thomas Hearns (plus-6 percent) and Muhammad Ali (plus-4 percent) fall short, too."
