Usually when someone says exotic here they just meant racially ambiguous. Seeing someone of a different race in the US is not really considered that exotic otherwise IMO. Unless you live in Hicksville, USA where everyone is one race. I can go to the grocery store and see people from just about any culture, speaking their native language as they shop. Spanish in particular is practically a second language in the US. Lots of Latinos/Hispanics here.
