Rereading the book and rewatched the book. And the feels came all the way back.

Daisy and Tom are toxic, and perfect for each other.

Gatsby, my man ? . So naive and hopelessly in love with a delusional vision of someone from his past, sacrificing himself all for her.

Fave scene

Sorry y'all I'm JUST IN MY FEELS OMF OLD SPORT ???????????????????????????
Will you still love me, when I'm no longer, young and beautiful
My heart hurt for Gatsby.

Everything he did for her. Everything. All for the delusional illusion of what/who he thought she was.

His love, blood sweat and tears, all in vain.

The scene where he gets shot, and the scenes that follow always get me.

If he was an actual person, this book may have never been written, and we would never know the truth.

He was always reaching for that green light. The epitome of life; so close yet so far away.

It's your Leo venus giving you all the feels.

I think Gatsby's got Leo venus.

?? I'm a hopeless romantic
Fitzgeralds a libra/Virgo cusp
Have you seen Z: The Beginning of Everything?

'Splains where Fitzgerald got his inspiration for this book. I watched the series the other day and it totally reminded me of The Great Gatsby.

Me too! I thought, there are some very clear parallels here.

I think is quite common to blame Daisy. Yes, she is a superficial woman who values material things and comfort over love, despite this misleads Gatsby making him think she feels the same, and ends abandoning the man who truly loves her for the stability of her current fake life. But I really think Daisy thought she loved Gatsby, she can't help being superficial. I blame her for not protecting gatsby and not being clear, but she never asked him to do everything for her.

People tend to think "poor Gatsby" (I thought that too when I first read the book), but he held onto a love story without any grounding, he was delusional. She was clearly a fake woman, he didn't want to accept it. Gatsby was really obsessive.

I felt sad for Nick.

Exactly. The movie is still fresh in my mind from seeing it a few months ago, and it's like wooow. Zelda is Daisy and Scott is Gatsby for sure.

I didn't feel sorry for Gatsby at all, tbh. He's a dude living in delusion and fantasy. One that died off and he clung on to from ages ago when things COULD have happened. But years went by, she got married, and he wanted to pretend that life was exactly how it was previously.

However, given his tall tales, it's no shocker he lived in fantasy like he did. That's where he preferred to live.

Daisy was throwing up flaky red flags left and right.

Yes!

However I think if sb was like this to me I would've been truthful to him and reject him politely (or not) at least face him, not feed his fantasies.

She loves money more
She sounds like the troll we hear about from all the tales of woe here, on DXP, tbh. Men and women.
