Thought of putting up this topic while I was planting annuals, perennials, and herbs.
Was curious if certain signs tended to enjoy gardening, landscaping, and general growing of things.

In my case, it's cathartic, although I enjoy the herbs in cooking.

If any of you do the above, any particular bent? Flowers, vegetables, trees, shrubs, or whacking down anything in your path with a lawnmower?

If you don't mind engaging my curiosity, share Sun/ moon/ascendant.

Cancer/Leo/Cancer here.

I love stick in' my fingers in the dirt, turning at all around... Just for the smell of it.

But for real... My favorite thing could be pruning. Just spending some quality time with a bush or a tree, leting it tell me what it needs to be beautiful and healthy, and then season after season if you're patient and dedicated you can really see how you can manipulate nature to your own will. Unless someone comes along behind you and hacks it up to shit later on, and you can't let it go, and then every time you look at said bush/tree you just feel sad and angry.... Even years later.

Oh and then if someone gets rid of a tree that I have loved for a long time, like at my grandparents or great grandparents house. It causes me a lot of emotional stress, like I'll just stand there looking at the empty space for a while, again for years. Its legit grieving.

This is very familiar to me. It can hit me harder than loosing a person. Not nessecarily death but you get the drill.

Also actual smell of earth = sex.

This is one of the things that's frowned upon in Romania. Every one of us has grandparents in some remote village and in every yard there is at least one old tree, at least 50 years old. I've seen people cutting ties with their family because some far cousin decided to cut the tree down.

You talking about taking the ground in your hands reminds me of a book that's mandatory here as far as romanian litterature goes. It's about life in the village and the opening sequence is this guy going over the field at 5 am in the morning, stopping for a second, bending down and taking the ground in his hands and smelling it. That whole novel is about people's relationship with the Earth.

Yes I love gardening, in fact, growing up I would help my mother with her gardening and
it was a great time for my mother and I to bond. It also became apart of my regular chore
so I had no choice but to love it lol and it grew on me. My mother is a Cancer and I was very much
a rebel growing up lol but I love her to death. I believe gardening was her time to escape the world
also because she had a great passion for it. Right now all my plants are potted but I would love to have a garden one day and maybe even grow some herbs and fruits as I am a natural freak so I love anything that is natural, fresh, raw etc. Me Aqua Sun, Gem moon

My Crab mother and I are going mushroom hunting for morels tomorrow for mother's day. It's a favorite past-time for us both.

You have no idea how many times I went mushroom hunting with my whole family on my dad's side. My Leo cousin was 3 years old back then and ofc she tagged along with us.

I was scared the first time because I thought we might pick up some poisonous ones and die but it worked out fine.

Some pics I took on my Easter break.

My uncle's beehives in the garden:

The quiet stream that runs in the back of our garden. It was heavy rain so the levels went up. Most of the days it flows gently. I've been there and stood by myself so many times, taking the surroundings in and meditating on stuff. And I love picking up small stones from it, of various shapes and colors and placing them in a jar. It matters more to me than jewelry.

Half a century old willow tree, in the school yard where my father studied, his brothers, his parents and most of our ancesters:

Since we're so connected to both Water and Earth, there's a poem in Romanian talking about both:

"The elders say that water passes,
They say that rocks remain steadfast and unmoved,
But things happen the other way around,
On our old ancient Earth..

Because rocks, however strong, will crumble to pieces..
And wash away..
And over their sad crumbling..
Only waters keep on flowing, unchanged"

I remember a local tradition that still holds true in some of our villages.

If a young couple is to be married, they have to prove to each other the strength and commitment they have to their love.

The groom to be is required to build a house from the ground up in 7 days. He does this with his father, brothers and any male friends he has.

The bride to be has 24 hours before the wedding day to completely sow a wedding shirt her husband will wear the next day. You'd think it would be easy but the details are really intricate. She is also assisted by her mother, her sisters and female friends.

I just remembered this because my grandparents followed this tradition 🙂

That's a cool poem.
There is a quote from a Chinese philosopher that has a similar idea:
—Water is fluid, soft, and yielding. But water will wear away rock, which is rigid and cannot yield. As a rule, whatever is fluid, soft, and yielding will overcome whatever is rigid and hard. This is another paradox: what is soft is strong.?? -- Lao Tzu

aqua/sag/sag When I was younger wanted to plant a bean stalk did everything in my power even threw in lots of flower seeds and fruit seeds...nothing. So I gave up I hate getting dirty when theres bugs around, if there were no bugs I'd plant lots of flowers. However 3 years after I moved those seeds sprouted and even a pear tree exists in that backyard now :p.

Omg! I would so be down there right now in a lawn chair, with an ice chest full of drinks and a book 🙂

Mmmm, 😄
