Are you transferring from country to country?

I will be eventually if this housing settlement works out. Long story short, a woman and her husband are working for the company USAID and will be in West Africa, so they are renting out their house (for a very reasonable price since they do not want to sell it and will want the house to be taken care of). And the rent money will be transferred to them via western union. I was asking to make sure it was a reliable thing (among other things)and I just wanted opinions on it. Is it simple to use? It's good that there have been no issues with it.

Just be careful that the rent situation isn't a scam. There's heaps of that going on from south Africa etc.

I had someone approach me about renting a room in my house and they wanted to send me money via western union which they did and sent way too much. Asking me to cash the cheque and send them the change!! WU would have easily cashed it but come after me later!!

When I transfer between countries I use a foreign exchange expert like

www. hifx.com

No fees and very reliable and fast!

Oh yeah,we've been the checking lol. I mean, the offer is so great (especially for a college student) that it'd probably break our hearts if it was fake. Hence why I made this thread. We've checked sites to make sure the woman exists (like spokeo and the county sites, map quests, white pages, google maps, ect) and the woman and her husband and the property exists. We want to drive out there sometime soon to really make sure everything is legit. So you know, we're still checking everything out. But if this is real,I will be incredibly happy because I have a place to stay over the summer and work.

The irony is, it sounds like a complete ruse, but when speaking to her, she sounds more trusting than we do (by we, I mean me and the three other people I'd be living with over the summer). If this is not a scam (fingers crossed), we'd be renting with utilities included at an affordable price because they did not want to sell their house because of all the work they put into it. And we'd be maintaining the house. We'd literally be house sitting while living there. But we're still going to drive out there and speak to the neighbors.

Do you know anyone in real estate or council? You can run a check on the property and see if there names are on the title. This will prove ownership.

Too good to be true— Sounds scary.

I would not be handing Over any money without meeting the person and going through the property with them and also signing a contractual agreement.

Cross all the t's and dot your I's.

We're going to be checking as much as we can before we settle anything. Nothing is set in stone. We only know that this would be our number one choice if only it turns out to be legit. So our fingers are crossed, but we're still skeptical. No we don't know anyone in retail estate, but we're going to try to check county records to be sure they own the property. So far it seems like they do because all the things we have checked so far point back to the couple renting the place, but it's still good to have some skepticism. I mean, from what we know, they are real people (and even have a daughter), the address exists, the property value is what they stated. They said they would be checking in on the property in person, especially around September if we chose to live there. But we have other options in mind in case this doesn't work out.

Hmmm, I'd be a little leary of that...You might want to make sure that the house is not in foreclosure! A lot of that was happening around these parts. People were renting houses. The owners were in foreclosure, almost doubled the rent price over the mortgage and not paying the mortgage. Needless to say the people renting had to move. It only takes ninety days for the foreclosure process to go through. Perhaps go through a realestate company that manages rental properties for owners that might be a safer bet. Good luck.

I actually suggested this to my roommate since you mentioned this. We're going out by the house tomorrow to check it out and to possibly speak to some of the neighbors.
