Should and need are the same for me ... I usually do what I want first, then worry about should later. However, you said crossroads, so this indicates a serious life-decision .... in which case, needs supercede wants or desires.
Try forming a fantasy about the want for you to enjoy, as you do the need as an obligation to yourself ... that way, your thoughts are focused around what you want, so as you fufill your needs, you will be calling to you what you want ... which will eventually find you.
Every person is different .. however, it appears that the majority of people experience guilt if they make decisions based around wants versus needs .. after the want is taken, of course.
And it appears that the majority of people experience a longing, yearning if they make decisions based around needs .. after the need is fulfilled.
So, in your consideration of what you should do with these choices you are presented with ... perhaps, it would be prudent to think about what lingers in the emotional wake, after-the-fact, rather than the immediate benefits. For, it appears to me that most people are more capable of handling a mistake in the moment, then they are any kind of lingering emotional affects ..... they allow themselves to be haunted emotionally .. though, I don't really understand why.
Anyway .... whatever decisions you make now aren't near as serious as what will befall your psyche if you think in the moment, as a basis, as it's relative to how you feel versus how you will feel.
