my soulmate is with me!
Still looking for my twin flame... but could it be the 26-year-old Taurus Sheep I've been talking about?

smile
bunny, you said youre from Philiphines and is now a lawyer...

are you from a wealthy or somewhat upper class family background?

because, i was talking to my mother in law, and she's having meetings with some philosphers, professors and book writers, and writers who write for education ect.

and they are of Indian/Asian descent...

i was curious and asked, "Are these individuals from wealthy families?"

"yes,"

"I thought so, because that would mean they have a high education and be able to be those occupations you mentioned."

so, basically wealth and poor is not only in the U.S. but also in other countries.

I think it's there everywhere. I always thought the diversity is far more apparent in the Asian countries actually.

it would make sense since education is very expensive. and who is going to pay for that education?

in the U.S, middle class to poor, lower middle class can get into college if they have scholarships, and grants and loans, but that is a huge trap (the loans) it's only good if someone is going to be a doctor and then pay off that 100k loan when they are finally working after 10 years of college. lol

Middle-class Filipinos can afford law school. There's even a law school here in the locality that offers full scholarship to students who graduated with latin honors in their undergrad.

Filipinos give priority to education and career. Everyone strives really hard to get some degree. And it's not that expensive here, unlike in the US. My cousins from the US even flew here just to get Nursing degrees because it's a lot cheaper here. They're successful now.

As regards my family, my father is a self-made man, as he considers himself. Born into a poor farming family in a remote village, he made his way to law school all by himself and eventually became a lawyer. My mother belongs to a middle-class family of professionals but it's her budgeting skills that gave me, my sister and my brother the opportunity to go through law school, med school, and flying school respectively.

Among the siblings, my parents were able to save the most money with me as I was able to go through scholarships in the undergrad (with a degree in Accountancy), full scholarships in review centers, and partial scholarships in law school. As the middle child, I was trained by my mother how to save money and just spend for comfort, food, and appearance. My laptop is cheap and my cellphone is 2nd-hand.

Yes, many Filipinos are below poverty levels but the past two administrations were able to lift millions of Filipinos out of poverty. The Philippines has been the 2nd-fastest growing economy in the entire world for the past few years (2012 to present).

Idk about other Asian countries, but in India grants n scholarships are caste-based n not finanacial position or merit based which I think is ridiculous. You could be having millions but if you belong to a backward caste, you get all the scholarships. I doubt if that's gonna change anytime soon. I mean you give an exam n say got some 30th rank n say a backward caste guy got 100th rank, he'll be placed in college before you. Also education is a huge business in India as well. It's like a gamble. Except for very few courses(which are purely based on merit), it's enough if you have money to get into Universities n stuff.

In Denmark tho, it's all on the government. But taxes are RIDICULOUSLY high. But again,it's one of the expensive places to live in anyway..so can't complain.

had to leave, we have guests staying in our home and i had to go make 4 breakfasts for them. we've been having family members and their friends staying here on and off, coming from different countries. some left, and some have arrived and gone to other countries and back.

we're all going out today later too, to museums and plays.

thanks for that, bunny,

i have heard yesterday over dinner that philiphines has a terrible president. he is terrorizing citizens who are on drugs or have been drug dealers and just kiling them without any judge jury.

yeah alot of asians in many countries are below poverty level much more than middle class or wealthy in comparison. i looked up statistics.

there is a Indian man my mother in law met, who talks about his mother who is very very into bargaining....

Umm.. I'm not sure if you got that right.

You either have to have money or be born into a backward caste family to have it all going smooth. Merit works weirdly in India. Like you have to be on the extreme top of the list or it is as good as nothing. Precisely, score stupendously at school/uni, be rich or be born in a low caste. Anything in between is almost non-existent.

And yes, rich marry into the rich.

They have a concept in India since long. Money is forever concentrated in hands of certain class of the society. "Rich gets richer n poor gets poorer" is still there.

But I won't say only kids from wealthy families are getting good education. I'd never agree with that part..not just in India..but any where in the world in general. That topic to me is very controversial n I don't wanna get deep into it.

Lol!! Umm..the bargaining power... I think it's an individual thing I'm not sure.

yes it is very consistent through out the board.

jobs that are blue collar are always poor man's job. Sad

but its the blue collars that we cant live without cause who else is gonna fix your car, build your homes/construction/ do your plumbing, farm your animals and chickens and cows, all the very very hard labor stuff.

I don't think many people on this site are blue collars cause they are too tired after the work to go online and chat about astrology and relationships.

yeah I think so too, I asked and they said that their brothers and sisters of the woman who bargains a lot are dissimilar.

so it must be an individual thing.

you're right, poor marries poor and rich marry rich.

also I notice, that behavior in poor/rich are different. maybe something interesting to make a topic about later. like you can tell, despite someone wearing very expensive clothing.

from what i know, the Philippines has always been 2nd to China from 2012 to 2015. For 2016, the country's GDP growth rate slowed down. And even further in the first quarter of 2017. But still, the speed in economic growth is impressive.
I'm actually wrong. The Philippines' GDP growth rate for 2016 was 6.8% , a bit higher than China's (6.7% ).

yes lisabethur8, there are rich and poor people in all the countries
but i wanted to get DETAILED about it...

like in relation to education.

rich people have better education and they tend to make better jobs such as lawyer doctor, etc...

poor people tend to get less intersting jobs

yes it is very consistent through out the board.

jobs that are blue collar are always poor man's job. Sad

but its the blue collars that we cant live without cause who else is gonna fix your car, build your homes/construction/ do your plumbing, farm your animals and chickens and cows, all the very very hard labor stuff.

I don't think many people on this site are blue collars cause they are too tired after the work to go online and chat about astrology and relationships.

I noticed rich people tend to have more money and they buy nice things, like fast cars, nice shoes, etc...

As for poor people I'v seen some walking barefoot in the street and sitting everywhere.

What year are we talking about, Teena? I'm referring to the period 2012 to present.

from what i know, the Philippines has always been 2nd to China from 2012 to 2015. For 2016, the country's GDP growth rate slowed down. And even further in the first quarter of 2017. But still, the speed in economic growth is impressive.
Now it holds some 8 or 9th position I guess. China is behind Philippines.

China has been leading for a really long time. I don't know since when. Maybe around 2007/8.

Leading? In the top 10 yes, top most no. N it stopped being on the top 10 list around 2013-14 altogether. N Philippines joined the list very recently.

I've seen it where rich people pretend to be poor, and poor people actually buy super nice cars but live in the poverty neighborhoods.
