bunny, you said youre from Philiphines and is now a lawyer...
are you from a wealthy or somewhat upper class family background?
because, i was talking to my mother in law, and she's having meetings with some philosphers, professors and book writers, and writers who write for education ect.
and they are of Indian/Asian descent...
i was curious and asked, "Are these individuals from wealthy families?"
"yes,"
"I thought so, because that would mean they have a high education and be able to be those occupations you mentioned."
so, basically wealth and poor is not only in the U.S. but also in other countries.

Posted by lisabethur8Idk about other Asian countries, but in India grants n scholarships are caste-based n not finanacial position or merit based which I think is ridiculous. You could be having millions but if you belong to a backward caste, you get all the scholarships. I doubt if that's gonna change anytime soon. I mean you give an exam n say got some 30th rank n say a backward caste guy got 100th rank, he'll be placed in college before you. Also education is a huge business in India as well. It's like a gamble. Except for very few courses(which are purely based on merit), it's enough if you have money to get into Universities n stuff.Posted by TeenaPosted by lisabethur8I think it's there everywhere. in the U.S, middle class to poor, lower middle class can get into college if they have scholarships, and grants and loans, but that is a huge trap (the loans) it's only good if someone is going to be a doctor and then pay off that 100k loan when they are finally working after 10 years of college. lolclick to expand

You either have to have money or be born into a backward caste family to have it all going smooth. Merit works weirdly in India. Like you have to be on the extreme top of the list or it is as good as nothing. Precisely, score stupendously at school/uni, be rich or be born in a low caste. Anything in between is almost non-existent.
And yes, rich marry into the rich.
They have a concept in India since long. Money is forever concentrated in hands of certain class of the society. "Rich gets richer n poor gets poorer" is still there.
But I won't say only kids from wealthy families are getting good education. I'd never agree with that part..not just in India..but any where in the world in general. That topic to me is very controversial n I don't wanna get deep into it.
Lol!! Umm..the bargaining power... I think it's an individual thing I'm not sure.click to expand
