Hi. Fall has been here. Halloween is near. Ever since I was young this time year round always got me feeling some kind of way y’kno? I used to be obsessed with vampires, werewolves, witches and thick eyeliner growing up 🤣 I used to shop at Hot Topic a lot. Kerli was so inspiring, whatever happened to her? I always wanted to go to a goth club some day but I was too young for it. Thankfully I grew out of all that by college. Still every year October & the start of the cool, brisk air would remind me of my past and my deep obsessions with the occults. Out of curiosity I decided to search goth clubs near me. Found one, looked through their homepage. Eeek, the people who actually turn out there look kind of off. If it wasn’t for covid I might’ve actually considered dolling up all alternative and going to some of their events for the first time. Best to get it out of my system now than in my 30s I think. Anyone ever went to such similar atrocious things?

Halloween and Christmas are the only périod of the year I'm awiting for. I couldn't care less about the rest.

Unfortunately, we're not celebrating Halloween anymore, here... Before, I used to cosplay as a witch every year. I just loooooove it.

That sounds so fun! Is it a group thing? Cosplaying looks interesting but it requires so much effort, the right hair, makeup, outfit, etc. But once a year sounds nice.

I kind of always wanted to go tricker treating as a kid, but my church would always have some event going on so I figured well whats the point of going door to door for candy when I could just bring home trash bags full of it from one place.

Also, Christian values, strict mother, not that many friends and barely no one else doing it because I'm from the hood 🤷🏾‍♂️

I wouldn't say obsessed but, I do have a thing for vampiry women.

I had a strict upbringing too so it wasn't easy to participate in more "dark events." Not sure if I'm grateful for that or not tho.

Be prepared to run into some gatekeeping, animosity and don't take it personally.

Like what kind? I can't really imagine that since most of them looked very 30+ locally.

I don't know. Usually the scene is relatievly open in my experience but things might be very different here in Germany than it is in other nations. Sub-cultures can be quite protective of themselves. Doubt that anything serious might happen. I'm just saying that not everyone might react positively or indifferent if you are not perceived as one of them, but I, again, I doubt it will come to that and just wanted to give a mild warning.

Lol I don't get why people would take it so seriously. It's just another form of self-expression/art. I'm very introverted so it would mostly be a people watching experience for me.

I'm not, for the same reason you're not sure if you're grateful for it 🤷🏾‍♂️

Would you allow your kid to go tricker treating minus the times we're in?

Of course they'd be allowed to go trick or treating. But my alternative friends were into drinking and smoking from a young age (13 years old) so in hindsight I'm glad I didn't end up going to a lot of their invites. In adulthood they don't look like they're doing so well.

Actually most are very welcoming. Some may look quite sinister but you’d be surprised how liberal they are.

That's my experience as well, but I don't know how different things would be in the US for example, because the social structure of the nation as a whole might be different.

That's true. Americans in general are more unnecessarily aggressive and mentally deranged. The American users on dxp vs the non-American users have always reflected that blatantly aside from America's handle of covid.

I don't think that had much to do with trick or treating 😆 But I do see your point and why you're not sure.
