Its on my must see list.
Mine too. smile Michael Moore is an absolute genius and Bowling for Columbine...one of the most thought-provoking movies of our time. The connections that he made were just brilliant. So, I hope this new one also accomplishes that level of insight.
I'm going to see it tonight....
review tomorrow Winking
Sicko is an incredible, thought and emotional provoking movie - one that I highly suggest EVERYONE see!

You are an ERROR by nature? what makes you think that others do ERROR(S)..???
"I don't know why I always find myself disappointed by how gullible the sheep/people are."
Me also .. and yet, I know they are, so why be surprised or disappointed?
His movies provoke discontent, intolerance, non-conformity. He causes people to create negative energy towards the establishment, instead of positive energy ..
Change is only going to come from those who show reasons "why" it should BE, rather than just bitching "that" it isn't.
Does he show why it should be? Or, does he only show how it isn't?
Often I ask people who are into politics and are bitching about the government, "What would you do to make it better?" Thier answer is something to the effect of, "I wouldn't do what Bush is doing."
I asked what should be done, what you WOULD do .. not what you wouldn't. Moore reminds me of this .. he shows nothing positive for people to take with them to change us for the better .. just arms people with amnunition to complain.
Have only seen his first movie and that was under protest .. no interest in seeing anymore .. I can make my own judgements and find my own ammunition as to why something is "bad" ..
To get me to jump on a bandwagon .. I have to be shown how it's to be improved .. he offers no insight to this.
To bring mankind to a world of peace .. we certainly don't need another person influencing us into continuing to sit back with disdain .. don't we have the mental capacity, intuition and concern enough for humanity to discern our state of affairs all by our little?
Show me the way .. not hell .. and I'll comply with enthusiasm.
Show me hell and not the way .. and I'll bulk against you.
Moore does this .. he causes people to strike out of anger, rather than provide us with any insight as to how we can make our world peaceful. Aren't we angry enough all by our little?
Look at this just now?
What has been provoked?
If a system isn't working .. then find a way to fix it.
That is what will bring change .. that is the way to improvement.
He would have people bitching until the cows come home, storming a policy or administration with fire, rather than offering anything to find a solution.
"Community and people are the answer not government and bureaucrat's."
Agreed .. that's why I always promote lobbying Congress .. Senate and the House needs to consist of the common man, out here working his butt off to earn a dollar, who can more appropriately represent the community.
As for the movie in which references have been made about health care, I didn't see it, nor will I .. so, I can't comment on the movie itself, only on Moore being a propagandist. People are funny .. they bitch about the media ONLY promoting what they choose for the public to see with the intentions of influencing the people in a certain direction to focus .. what the hell do they think Moore is doing? He's completely biased .. and yet, people jump onto his bandwagon, then bitch about the governement or media only presenting their own agenda. I really see no difference between the media and Moore, quite frankly.
*scratches head*
Maybe I'm the only one who can see this .. or maybe I'm just screwed up and looking at this backwards, lol If I'm looking at this wrong, please clarify for me .. my error in Moore's motives.
Canadian here. I saw it and found it pretty enjoyable. There were some decent jokes and good intentions. In fact it kind of made me want to move to France, hahaha.
Seriously though, from a Canadian perspective, the British and French got it pretty good. Being able to walk into any hospital and get free health care is pretty damn sweet no matter how you slice it and you can't beat the cost of drugs. There's no arguing that, period. There's no reason to take it personal either. Naturally the film is geared towards a biased perspective and in my opinion it's too late to fix anything.
As a Canadian, I'm sure there'll come a day when equality kicks me in the butt and I'll have to be waitlisted on something with everyone else, but I think it's better that everyday care is available, rather than reserving it only for people who can afford it. That's everyone being covered for basic needs versus whatever percentage elsewhere.
When I moved between provinces, I remember forgetting to not apply for my health care (illegal not to do so, I think) and they sent me a bill for $ 140 for an Emergency Room drop in (versus 0 cost with the Card). Either way, they didn't refuse me medical care, they just sent me the bill later that one time I didn't have it. The doctor that saw me was even kind enough to bill it under her private clinic so that I wouldn't get into any legal trouble. I also have separate insurance that covers additional dental and medical needs, which are actually part of a group plan at this place I do some in-house work for.
In regards to the movie, if you have the good sense to see through Moore's obvious bias and propaganda, then you should be able to watch it and form your own opinion after doing whatever additional research is necessary. I mean, I'm sure there's equally as much propaganda coming from your neighbour, congressman, and/or education system. That being said, there are some strong underlying ideals and moral ethics that people should be opened minded to.
While we're on the subject, I also think one of the major problems with the world is blaming the victim. With great power comes great responsiblity and those not in the position to help other or help themselves need a hand sometimes. This applies to governments and the knowledgeable. It's easy to say people are gullible but I'd say it takes a hell of a lot more to challenge the source of information for everyone's benefit. This shouldn't be about winning personal battles to confirm your own beliefs or keep your pockets full, it's about revealing the truth to make an informed decision for everyone to benefit as a whole. For that to be successful, you have to have an open mind and be willing to find out for yourself. It's not always about democracy or popular opinion... sometimes you have to use your mind and make an informed/calculated decision.
"People are funny .. they bitch about the media ONLY promoting what they choose for the public to see with the intentions of influencing the people in a certain direction to focus..."
I agree PA - people are funny and all very unique - however, in regards to your above quote - isn't this exactly the same behaviour as our Gov't, our newspapers, the news, magazines etc.?
"It's easy to say people are gullible but I'd say it takes a hell of a lot more to challenge the source of information for everyone's benefit. 100% in agreement with you on that WaterPhoenix!
"This shouldn't be about winning personal battles to confirm your own beliefs or keep your pockets full, it's about revealing the truth to make an informed decision for everyone to benefit as a whole."

I agree .. however, it doesn't appear this way. The people I know who have seen his movies, only complain about what he shows them .. yet, when I try to get them to join a cause worth fighting for that goes against the injustices of the government, they wuss out. If this information (truths) were actually used for a good cause, I might be more inclined to re-format my opinions about Moore's intentions.
Additionally, I saw a clip (not the whole scene), in one of his movies where he was badgering Charlton Heston about the NRA. Now, granted, I believe that this is, indeed, a serious issue .. however, it was apparant that Mr. Heston was suffereing tremendously from dementia and Moore had no compassion for his condition .. he just reamed him, anyway. I fully realize that at one time, Mr. Heston was a supporter of the NRA, I'm not disputing that. I am, however, disputing the targeting of someone who is ill and isn't mentally stable, nor healthy enough to defend himself.
I see no difference in that than if Moore had taken a wheelchair bound person to the top of the stairs and taunted this person with letting go. It's sick, absolutely disgraceful (from my perspective) to use and abuse a person suffering from dementia to get a point across. To me, that was despicable.

Huh?

Just one single case out of millions?

At least M.Moore has balls to bring these adversities to the lights where chicken shits looking for excuses to explain how and why!?. And btw he wasn't an illegal immigrant that some assholes might suggest later.
It is intolerable for the ?right wing assholes? that a successful state-run system be allowed to exist as it runs counter to their "free market" greedy ideology..!

How'd you take it..??
P
disputing the targeting of someone who is ill and isn't mentally stable, nor healthy enough to defend himself.
Then why the hell he was the head of the NRA till 2003..??

In case of Mr. Moore (Bowling for Columbine)..
Do you realize that an average 30,000 human (USA ONLY) being killed each year by the gunshot..?? 10 times more than 9/11 terrorist attack that gives excuses to M.E. illegal occupations and wars..??
That there are about 98,000,000 americans own 215,000,000 firearms (120 times more than the whole damn US Army weapon inventories)..? ?only 25 percent of adults actually own firearms; 74 percent of gun owners possessed two or more.?

Incidents in VA this year..??...The man says the right thing.. but nobody listen?!

I am telling you.. Rest of the world see this as a sign of hypocrisy.
