One of the best cover I've ever seen on YouTube. It's very close to the original.

Wow, so similar

I love this song 😍😍😍

IMHO, the whole point of doing a cover version (if the artistic intentions are genuine) is to improve on the original version, and/or to interpret it in a new and interesting way. This does neither and is basically a carbon copy.

I'll stick with the original, thanks.

I don’t care as long as it’s good.

Then again we all know that I am not as picky as you 😛

I think my distaste of those type of cover versions stems from the corporate music label culture, back in the day - where a fledgling band/artist would release a shitty cover song in order to break the charts. It was such a common practice, because it was seen as an almost full-proof last resort, and I see it as nothing more than a lazy option to gain more attention or strike it big.

Since then, that's how I perceive such bands and artists, and very much doubt my opinion will change. Show some passion and creativity, and you're good with me (I don't even have to like the cover version). But churn out a carbon copy or something significantly inferior, I'm going to be as dismissive as an aristocrat reacting to a street urchin who just asked for some change...

I know where you are coming from and I get your point.

For me if they are good they are good. You can make a very original version of it and if is good, I will like it, but I know how hard it is to make a really good copy of it and that to me says you are really good musician even if you are not original.

I hear you, but I don't hold performance in such a high regard. New and original creative ideas come first, for me, performance comes second...

Winter's cityside

Crystal bits of snowflakes

All around my head and in the wind

I had no illusions

That I'd ever find a glimpse

Of summer's heatwaves in your eyes

You did what you did to me

Now it's history, I see

Here's my comeback on the road again

Things will happen while they can

I will wait here for my man tonight

It's easy when you're big in Japan

Oh, when you're big in Japan, tonight

Big in Japan, be tight

Big in Japan, ooh the eastern sea's so blue

Big in Japan, alright

Pay, then I'll sleep by your side

Things are easy when you're big in Japan

Oh, when you're big in Japan

Neon on my naked skin, passing silhouettes

Of strange illuminated mannequins

Shall I stay here at the zoo

Or should I go and change my point of view

For other ugly scenes

You did…

She is great (with covers) 🙂
