Seattle Sound - Pisces and Water

You guys know the entire Grunge Sound from Seattle was all Pisces with few Cancers and 1 Scorpio and 1 Cap.

Even those Pisces or Cancers had Cancer Moons. I guess it takes Water to write murky sound with introspective lyricks.

Now I know why they reversed punk. Punk is happy music played up the griff, but if you slow it down and play it downwards you get grunge - same notes but different feel and sad in a way.

All those guys were simply Pisces, with few Cancers here and there. And even if the singer was not Pisces, the main person who wrote the riffs was Pisces like Van Conner from Screaming Trees.

Now I also know why they are all dead.

Soundgarden and Alice in chains. Mostly soundgarden though, they made depressed yet philosophical masterpieces.

Grunge is shit though...

It pains me to say it because it's mostly genX artists, but they don't have the good energy of the boomers.

Once I watched a video of that guy frusciante who has a very good reputation as a guitarist and he talked for one hour of how he composed the guitar for this one song and how it was a melting pot of great boomers influences and it was really nice to listen and enthusing.

But then the song started playing and it was fucking suck. Some kinda gloomy depressing guitar massacre noise heard through a bathtub.

I think Genx just don't have the creative energy of the previous generation
Kim Thayil is a Virgo and Eddie Vedder a Capricorn. It's kinda a thing that lots of great guitarists are Pisces though, Harrison, Gilmour, Frusciante, Gallagher, Iommi, Cash and probably heaps more.

Most of the best shit came from the silent generation or at least 1940s boomers. Van Halen is the only core boomer who was any good. That's why you always hear boomers moaning about modern music because they were teenagers when the real good shit was being made, by the time they were making it that wave was over.

that guy frusciante
Maybe it's shit fair enough, but that guy was not grunge.

He was from Red H.C.P.

Pisces though smile

The grunge on the radio was pop, so some can say it's shit, but some albums were good, but who ever listens to albums.

Grunge wasn't about technicality, it was depressive with lot of emphasis on vocals. Most of was shit imo. Even Most of nirvanas songs are meh, its their 4 or 5 hits that made it. Soundgarden had great fucking vocals you cant deny ans Kim Thayil is a beast on riffs and solos, the drummer Cameron also had a badass groove similar to bonham.

I remember when I lived in Seattle for a couple of months, after 2 weeks I was like when the sun gonna come out this shits depressing.

Boomer music can be terrible too with what plays on the radio, Queen overrated, Bowie was alright but mostly the hits. 80s hair metal was all shit except for couple of good riffs here and there. All that supertramp clone noise on 80s radio.

Every generation has its shit music.

Agreed. That said still love Bleach and Dinosaur Jr. Never liked Queen - pretentious, bombastic, camp but not funny or ironic - not denying the talent of musicianship just it's not for me. Bowie was good when he worked with Mick Ronson, nobody else. Same as Michael Jackson only good when he worked with Quincy Jones. 80s hair metal or cock rock is terrible, but I'm always impressed by how good the musicians are - Mick Mars, Viv Campbell, Scorpions. I quite like some bands that followed grunge like Queens of the Stone Age.

Yeah I agree. I wouldn't put Scorpions with hair metal but they did capitalize on that wave. Queen was actually a good concept but it got ruined in the aftermath with how much the media tried to push it.

Dinosaur Jr is great, they stayed underground like Grateful Dead and avoided getting ruined by mass media.
🔥

More Seattle Sound that were not as known on the radio:

I find those above to be superb albums. No big hits, just god dam good music at album level.
They aren't all dead. Eddie Vedder and David Grohl are still alive. Just goes to show how resilient Capricorn are.

Anyway Black hole sun by Soundgarden is in my top 5 favorite songs of all times. I feel like I could hear that song a million more times, and still get chills. Especially in the last line

Hang my head

Drown my fears

Till you all just disappear.

Which is exactly what he did, or so they say.
