saw this on yahoo,
more than 10,000 estimated dead from the terrible storms.
houses and establishments uprooted.

"TACLOBAN, Philippines (AP) ??? As many as 10,000 people are believed dead in one Philippine city alone after one of the worst storms ever recorded unleashed ferocious winds and giant waves that washed away homes and schools. Corpses hung from tree branches and were scattered along sidewalks and among flattened buildings, while looters raided grocery stores and gas stations in search of food, fuel and water."

I'm sorry you guys. I hope it never comes close to you both.
Keep praying! (if you believe in prayers)
It's horrible to read this stuff.
It's okay, Lisabethur... I've withstood 4 strong typhoons in my life. I even crossed a flooded street in one of them. Worst was Typhoon Durian in November 2006. We literally had to drain the water coming off from our roof towards the second floor of our house. And we were using pails then! Sad
*big prayers to you all out there*

on CNN, it's an even bigger headline:
http://edition.cnn.com/2013/11/10/world/asia/philippines-typhoon-haiyan/index.html?hpt=hp_t1

"Tacloban, Philippines (CNN) -- No food. No water. Houses and buildings torn to pieces. Bodies scattered on the streets. Hospitals overrun with patients. Medical supplies running out.
As Typhoon Haiyan barreled across the South China Sea on Sunday, getting set to bring more destruction to Vietnam, many Filipinos grappled with devastation on a level they'd never seen before.
The Philippine Red Cross estimated at least 1,200 people were killed by Haiyan, but the full death toll could be significantly higher as officials make their way to remote, nearly inaccessible places pummeled by the storm"

I've been in them too. Scary.
Thoughts go out to everyone!

Thanks so much Twinkle... This is for my countrymen, though, as we didn't feel the wrath of the typhoon except dozens of strong howling winds. We were spared. But just about two major islands from us was the hardest hit by this typhoon. The devastation was beyond imagination... Sad
Those are just estimates, Deep78. I hope it wouldn't go that high... >_

estimation seems so robotic. But i do notice they always estimate higher than it is.
Ands! Here's the typhoon path of Typhoon Haiyan (Typhoon Yolanda in PH):

The purple line is the path of typhoon. The hardest hit is Tacloban (in orange). The first landfall is in Guiuan, Eastern Samar. That first point the purple line first crosses is Guiuan, Eastern Samar.
I live in Daraga, Albay. It's quite close to the path of typhoon as can be seen in this map. Manila, not as much.

Thanks so much for the prayers, Lisabethur.
Ands, the devastation from the typhoon will definitely hurt the economy so it might, one way or another, affect us too. Sad

i dont mean to be a party pooper but i feel that this is such a very very tough year for alot of people.
Sad
will light candles and send prayers too.
reading the morning news was terrible. children were snatched away from their parents hold. damn, you have to bind their hands together with rope and whatever they could find to keep them together. holding them is not enough against a vicious typhoon. those reads are the worst.

was just reading/watching the news, also this on youtube:
< width="560" height="315" ="
too many people died, seen them hangin on the tree branches, floating in the sea, deaths found inside the cars, and everywhere you look, just imagine how strong this typhoon. their house s got destroyed even the evacuation center destroyed, ships swept away from water to land , the beautiful province with too many resorts and parks looks like a ghost town now and the people are zombies finding their relatives who are missing, finding food to eat, finding water to drink, and finding shelter. In Lords name we pray for those who died and the people who survived recover for the traumas. this will be a sad sad christmas for them Crying

Crying I hope things will be for the better in the next few weeks. I keep on hearing nightmares (new ones in fact) since that dreadful day... And the worst thing is... the Philippine government might not be capable enough to handle this situation... Sad
