Master Number 11

Can anyone please explain to me, if I'm a master 11, do I break down to a 2, or am I the double 1 energy?
I've been reading my chart as if I'm a one, yet I just read a book that suggested I'm not a 2 at all, it suggested I am a double 1.... Which to me seems completely different in nature. Yet I can see myself as either... What up?!????
