Decided to go back to school...

I'm 30 and a little afraid of enrolling in a college program again.

Anyone else go back to school over the age of 30?

What was your experience? What was the field?

Was it an away school or a local program?

How about online courses?

Yes I did, I studied anatomy and physiology, body massage and the study of Essential Oils. It led on to other things and I’ve never looked back. I’m now practicing as an Intuitive Life Coach and NLP therapist. I also incorporate astrology readings into my business.

If you love what you study you will be successful

Good luck!
It was a local college...

Literally starting class tomorrow, I feel you. My stomach has been in knots since Friday night
Congratulations, you will do awesome, I know it!!

I just feel like it's now or never

Before the kids and house etc ..

My bf is being super supportive.

I'm going back into a field that I use to work in. But now they want you to have a degree in it (TBH I could teach a course in it by now) but I'm sure it will help in a lot of ways to continue my education and lead to bigger things

I'm right now deciding between the online courses or local school...there is only one school on Long island that has the curriculum...it's a little far for me.

I prob won't be able to work while going to school.

I need to figure out the financial aspects also.

I tried this route 6 years ago and just stopped...

I'm determined this time. Now or never...before kids and a house and family etc...

I didnt do the "usual" college thing. It wasnt till my early half of my 30s the recession no jobs my house got foreclosed I started thinking differently. I went to technical college to learn a "trade" so to speak but you learn things outside your particular course too. Thats when I realized the value. Some years later I had a new plan in a new city this time I went and took all kinds of stuff in different fields business to other trades. First time I really spent nothing second there was loans included but by me being more established I didnt just take the loans and... I knew what to do with money from a different perspective. Happy I went dont think I would have learned all that otherwise but cant dismiss economic impacts either.
Trades are always important.

That's AWESOME!

I was 28 the last time I went, close to 30.

I enjoyed it more.

Economics Kelley School of Business.

Dont be scared, you'll like it, I promise. It's harder to manage day to day life and school, but once you figure that out you'll be fine.

There are a lot of logistics to work out.

I completely get you, I've been in emotional turmoil with education. Not meaning i dont want to do it, but I know there will be a struggle with balancing soon.

At least with the degree, they can't knock you down from your position just now that your own your way for that paper😁 You'll do amazing love.

Yes! Networking and word of mouth/recommendations only get me so far.

Like you said when I have the certification they won't be able to take it away from me. It also helps with pay and benefits and upward mobility in general.

I'm ready for this.

I went back to school at 30. Was working in a manufacturing plant making $ 12/hr. I didn't want that to be my life so I put my G.I. Bill to use and went back to school. I did much better in college than high school. Guess maturing a bit helped a ton with that. I just wish that I would've put better thought into deciding on what field to get a degree in. Especially one that wasn't going to cost me a dime. That's my only regret. Like most with a college degree, I don't even work in a related field. lol

Good luck!
Yes I hear you on that.

I have an associate's degree in history.

Thus far I have non nothing relating to that...that's why I didn't purse a B.A.

The field in going back into I have 15 years experience in. They now however require a certification.

I know it will be useful, because I will be active in the field I'm getting my degree in.

It's hard to figure out when you're younger what you want to do, maturity definitely helps
