Terrarium + treefrogs + BABY crickets. ARGH.

I'm 99.99999% sure I won't get any responses but I'm goddamn DESPERATE. I have a 29 gallon terrarium which houses my 3 white's tree frogs. They're all healthy, with two pretty typical White's TFs (aka fat hehe) and one on the smaller and lanky side.

If you have ever seen a whites tree frog eat, you'd probably know that they're freaking ninjas with food and usually eat anything in front of them (and then some). I feed mine at the very least 35 crickets a week and a waxworm about once a week (only two will eat them though). Usually the crickets are split into two feedings a few days apart.

Unfortunately, I have only a chain pet store that carries crickets that I find acceptable for my frogs. I bought a 24 pack due to lack of time. Last night I dumped crickets in, and theyre all gone.

Except for tiny tiny tiny BABY crickets. I can't count them because they're EVERYWHERE. and because I need to buy more contacts and my glasses aren't always awesome to see tiny things through 😉

But the lid on my tank, baby crickets could get through. And since I have TREE frogs, I have one large bark wall. Crickets can climb bark. With large ones idgaf, but baby ones? And the ecosystem and quality of my substrate will be ruined. And I don't want my smallest frog to be nipped on by baby crickets (crickets will bite and feed on frog skin) since they're so little he really can't just wipe them off.

Does anyone know how to rid the crickets? I hate the thought of baking the wood pieces and substrate to kill them all off. That's a ton of stress for frogs, and they don't handle like snakes or most reptiles - they can usually tolerate a bit of stress if it's not a new place. Frogs handle stress similar to tarantulas - they get lowered immunity and can die.

It's the whole tank, not just a log, m'dear.

No - frogs are really sensitive with their skin and can absorb the minerals which aren't great for them. It has to be treated water. 😢
