Well hwe goes, I have four fancy rats, Lo Lo, Baby, Shiela and Blondie. They are much like having a pet dog but alot smaller. They can do tricks, get very attached to whom they belong to (bonded like a dog does) will mourn if they loose their owner or cage mate. They all have very interesting personalities just like cats and dogs. They are very gentle and affectionate. Nothing like wild rats. The differnece between wild and domesticated rats is the same difference between wolves and domestic dogs. Just for comparrison. So hows that for wierd pet of the month, do I win first place, lol. Truly though everyone that has ever had fancy rats as pets falls in love with them, truly.

We started with them when my son was in gradeschool because our apartments would not let us have dogs or cats for a pet. So we came up with another choice after doing the tropical fish thing for ahwile. They are growing in popularity more all the time. Believe it or not.

WOW... You know how I know it's been a long time sinse I used to post on these forums all the time? Because my two pets I posted about earlier in this thread are both dead now.

Interesting and slightly depressing.

Now I live with nine cats: Link, Stoner, Oscar, Gipsy, Red, Lilly, Nike, Spooky, Gizmo, and the psycho in the basement we keep in a cage bacause he's "anti social". Plus two dogs.
