So I, like most of you, have gotten completely consumed by astrology and the zodiac over the course of the last year. It is funny how it happened, I just came home one day and out of the blue decided to look into my sun sign. Then I started looking into my friends and families sun signs and one thing led to another and now I am thinking about it everyday. I don't regret it either. I think the zodiac is really beautiful and I definitely think that people can be described as falling somewhere on it. I think the reason it consumed me is because it has some real utility for understanding people. But what I am not sold on is whether or not the position of the stars really has anything to do with it. I took an Astronomy class not long ago and the teacher was dead set against Astrology. She thought it was a low form of superstition because it is not backed up by any 'fact'. On the other hand life doesn't make a whole lot of sense any way if you know what I mean. So isn't the illusion of astrology beautiful enough to make it true? You know, isn't it better to believe in something beautiful than nothing at all?
I only "believe" in sun signs, as I do see similarities between people of same sun signs. I think it might have to do with seasonal influences or sthg. I don't buy all the other planet related crap. people can justify everything and anything with planets and it's pseudo-science.
"According to the Planck mission team, and based on the standard model of cosmology, the total mass—energy of the universe contains 4.9% ordinary matter, 26.8% dark matter and 68.3% dark energy.[2][3] Thus, dark matter is estimated to constitute 84.5% of the total matter in the universe and 26.8% of the total content of the universe.[4]" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_matter).<BR> Hey, astronomy student! Tell me what dark matter/energy is, and I'll present you with several hypotheses explaining astrology!
From what I remember Dark Matter is the name given to a body of mass that is apparently on the outside of the galaxy. They cant see it but they figure it is out there because the calculation for how much mass is in the galaxy is a lot higher than what it appears to be based on the visible matter in the galaxy. Dark Energy is another name given to a force scientists assume is pushing all the galaxies are drifting apart from each other.
It's not a body of mass on the outside of the galaxy. It's all over the Universe. Including in our galaxy, planets, stars.
Dark matter AND energy are among us, and most likely within us. They connect us with the planets.
The thing is, we don't yet know what 96% of the universe is made of, but quickly to disapprove connections made over thousands of years of observation?!
We need more breakthrough discoveries in physics, including about dark matter/energy, to be able to explain astrology.
Otherwise it's like trying to explain why children resemble their parents, before anything was known about genes and genetic inheritance.
