So recently I began studying more than just my sun and moon sign, and that led me to exploring my natal chart and getting familiar with aspects, houses, and all the other details that you don't learn in horoscopes 101...basically I've come to the conclusion that I don't agree.

What my chart reads for the most part is not me at all. For instance I have Mars and Venus in Aquarius, so by definition, I like freedom, am fearful of commitment (saturn in 7th), and appreciate independence in a relationship above all...oh yeah, I'm also attracted to weird men.

Well...that couldn't be further from the truth in regards to my sexual preference, as for saturn in my 7th, well I've just had issues with that in general because I actually don't fear commitment, or appreciate independence in a relationship (at least not in the sense that this chart placement means) I mean independence in a relationship just sounds like an oxymoron.

So anyone, I've moved to taking astrology with a grain of salt. If the chart can't even get who I am down to precision then I'm not going to buy into what it says my talents and strengths are...so in short what do you guys think about your natal chart—

Do you trust it?

Saturn in 7th doesn't mean you fear commitment, to my knowledge.

Quite the opposite really.

And Aquarius may lean toward unconventional relationships, but that doesn't mean they don't take them seriously.

Aqua is a fixed sign-- fixed signs do commitment. 🙂

Ah ok. I was just curious how close our birthdates are because I also have aqua mars/venus. I'm 2/24/92. In response to your post, I used to hate my birth chart but now I've come to appreciate most parts of it more. I do agree with you about independence+relationships not really computing, but the mars and venus placements manifest in some of the other ways for me. I'm not afraid of commitment, but its a very rare thing for me to do just the same. It's something that I take very seriously, and I find it hard to take most people that seriously. I'm turned off by weird women, but uniqueness is definitely something that catches my attention... and I'm definitely detached in love and sexual encounters. Not that I'm not feeling... it? but I guess the best way I can put it is that a part of my brain is always observing from a cold and emotionless 3rd person perspective. Like, I can be kissing a girl and loving the moment, ALMOST completely caught up in it... but never completely. Or whispering sweet nothings, and meaning every word I'm saying, but nonetheless- There's a part of my brain that is only taking note of what is happening, scrutinizing it. I think that's the Aqua detachedness manifesting. Maybe not.

I'm annoyed with my Jupiter in Virgo in Retrograde. I take it to mean I'll be disciplined when I'm older. I really struggle with that now, though.

I definitely take astrology with a grain of salt, myself. As for trusting my chart... no. But I can't deny that there are parts of it that are freakishly accurate. Or at least, I project the explanations of my behavior/thoughts/feelings onto myself and it fits comfortably enough.

I agree with all that. Mine is 3/8/92 and I have venus/mars in aqua too.

I've learned to appreciate those placements also. My attraction to unique women has gotten me told that I have "odd tastes". Additionally people have a hard time understanding why I would do something until I explain it to them because of how scattered an approach I had taken. I know that some mars in aqua people absolutely LOATHE being called "predictable", and that the conjunction makes us very straightforward.

From an emotional standpoint where do you think the detachment comes from? Distrust?
What you described is definitely Aquarius coming through, from what I've read this is how it manifest with individuals with Mars and Venus placements in Aquarius; however my placements don't actually manifest in this nature. In moments like you described where say you may be looking from a detached place, I'm totally immersed in it. I'm certainly attracted to creative people, but I wouldn't go so far to say that its an unconventional attraction that my Aquarius placement suggest. So I'm just struggling with it all, and have honestly moved away from astrology and birth charts because of it. I don't think i'll be able to take it more than with a grain of salt because I feel like certain elements may certainly be false, but have the ability to become self fulfilling prophecies in a way.

The placement of Mars in Aquarius indicates a strong desire for change and, at a deeper level, for individuation. Your actions, therefore, tend to express your individuality. Change is, for the most part, a manifestation of your desire for freedom from the constraints of stability. The change/freedom urge often manifests itself in you as your actions taking unconventional forms or otherwise contravening the staid and conventional. Much of the behavior and many of the personality characteristics associated with Mars in Aquarius are a result of your need for individual freedom and, particularly, the need to act to distinguish yourself from the common mass.

The placement of Venus in Aquarius indicates that you have a need for uniqueness and originality in your relationships and your value system. These are abstract concepts and pursuing these needs often leaves little room or inclination for emotion or the mundanely personal. Much of the behavior and many of the personality characteristics associated with Venus in Aquarius are a result of your need to feel that you are a unique individual even when involved in a relationship Behavior and personality are also the result of your need to adopt a set of values that are independent, not conditioned by society??s expectations and reflective of your unique viewpoint.

Thank you for this, I've never quite heard of Mars and Venus in Aquarius expressed in this way before. I would certainly agree with Mars, as I do like to be considered an individual over everything but the Venus description still doesn't sit right with me, I'm rather very traditional and romantic in my relationships. I feel often times that my Pisces sun takes over for me in how I interact with people more than anything else.

I read somewhere that the reason I may be unable to identify with my Mars and Aquarius placement is because my sun is after Aquarius creating dissonance between my conscious identity and perhaps what others see...which would explain why as much as I want traditional relationships and someone that is passionate and romantic, I always tend to attract jerks with no romantic bone in their body, unemotionally available guys, or men who are too st
