Doing Something Different

Been having a long think about what I will do when I finish up work on 26th March this year (I'm being paid off). The only thing I knew for sure I wanted to do was travel, so I had initially thought Spain for a few months then pop over to Oz to see my friend Linda (although I think the latter is going to be as more of a holiday).
However I've lately been researching doing volunteer work abroad and came across this site:
www.gvi.co.uk
OMG I hadn't realised there were so many opportunities for volunteer work across the world! I'm now seriously considering the idea - there are LOADS of projects on this site I would love to be a part of. Gives me the chance to see a bit of the world but to make a difference too.
I know there was a post a while back about volunteer work but I think that was more geared towards volunteering in your local community.
Anyone out there done or know of anyone who has done anything on a bit of a wider scale?
1 Marine Conservation Expedition Mexico
2 Patagonia Research and Exploration
3 Train As A Safari Field Guide In South Africa
4 English Teaching Program in Thailand
5 Wildlife Research Expedition in South Africa

Wow, just those top 5 projects sounds rewarding and the site said there were many more. There's always volunteering doing relief efforts from distasters and aiding people in starving countries .. however, that would also be depressing.
Sweet-Thetis .... if this feels right to you, then you should do it. There's something, or someone, that must be calling to you.
Maybe you'll find your soulmate, or your life purpose smile
