I can answer this question. When we're in love we absolutely CANNOT see the flaws in our partners. Even for months / years after the relationship ends, we will defend that person to the death, because we still love them. It's only after we have "moved on" that we can truly look and see what was wrong and what flaws were present.
So, being said - in the situation, when any normal human being would see that the relationship is going sour and cheating is inevitable, the Cancer will continue to hope and dream, refusing to look at reality and rely solely on the fact that they love this person. Unfortunately, if the other person doesn't have as deep of a connection, breakups will happen and legs will spread.
We will love you like NOBODY else, BUT - we get burned until we find someone who will return it. Every time. Multiple times.
So - basically, we're obsessive 🙂
