I have been bantering back and forth with an elder Pisces male. I dated a Pisces briefly in the past but wasn't with him long enough to obtain any insight into his personality. Anyway Frenchy, as he shall now be known, is an Atheist. I myself am somewhat of a heretic although I was never Catholic and therefore not a heretic but I'm digressing...

We've discussed religion on a few occasions and I am absolutely blown away by how closed this man is. I have yet to tell him what my beliefs are and I'm not sure he even cares. It's like having a conversation with a fire/fixed sign only less fireworks and the discussion actually continues civilly. He's no longer stateside and we've continued our conversations via Skype. In person and via Skype, I noticed that his body language changes when we discuss religion and other topics on which we have differing views. He becomes more closed/rigid in his posture/expressions as well as his views. Where I suppose some of this is normal, the way in which he does it is different than what I'm used to.

With the Aries, he invariably ended up shouting, with the Scorpio, it was like talking to a child who put his fingers in his ears and talked as loud as possible to get his point across, with the Leo, it was pure intimidation and with the Aqua, it was smooth yet icy. With this Pisces, it's similar to talking to my Aqua friend in that no discussion is off-limits and we can banter ad nauseum, but it's more light-hearted and I feel there is a sincere interest to understand and learn from one another even though neither of us is giving an inch. In fact, on this subject as least, I think I've been far more open than he has been but that could be because he's so passionate about it.

I wonder if this sounds similar to any of you Pisces or if there are other elements in his chart like his Mercury in Aquarius that might be contributing to his being this way? What "way?" I'm having trouble putting it into words but I know one damn thing for sure, it's sexy as hell...er heaven? You get the idea 😛

Moon Cancer 23.16
Mercury Aquarius 28.22 R
Venus Aries 20.42

LMAO! i stand corrected.

i wasn't actually trying to change his opinion on anything. religion/spirituality are subjects where i have strong convictions but i couldn't get a word in edge-wise with this fella. he wasn't yelling or anything just explaining himself/his views VERY thoroughly.

now that i think about it, the pisces i dated before, the reason why i stopped talking to him was over religions differences. he was NOI and like this pisces, he just kept talking and talking. the difference is, i'm more interested in what Frenchy has to say i suppose.

regardless, i hear ya Tony. there's just something about this man that i find intriguing to say the least. it's sorta alpha-male without the chauvinism that usually accompanies it. it really refreshing but who knows, maybe i just haven't seen that type-A side yet? does it exist? for some reason, i though of pisces as far more wimpy. maybe that's because i don't know any and whenever i read generalities, the only thing that jumped out at me was "sensitive,"

ahh lauren, he said something similar. we were discussing music. i'd asserted that there is beauty in many different types and i can't stand when people say things like they don't like a genre of music without having taken the time to listen. i.e. black folk who say they don't like "white music." wtf does that mean?

he agreed...in a sense but said for him, he's discovered what he likes and feels no need to waste time wading through other types of music to see if he might like them or not. in other words, he'd rather spend time doing what he knows works than risk disappointment and time in hopes of finding yet another gem.

makes sense but simultaneously doesn't. and that's generally how our discussions have gone thus far.

lauren then you're thick too 😛

although age difference has nothing to do with this particular issue, 16 years.

at the end of the day, having resolve or a firm position doesn't bother me. i am after all a taurus and as thick as they come.

not bending within reason, that's an issue no matter what your age and now that i think about it, his being closed isn't necessarily the problem. i'm not sure there is a "problem." his shift in body language was just so transparent in person and i can see it as well via skype.

he was obviously withdrawing in a sense and yet, the discussion continued, yes, he monopolized at times but he was even-tempered and surprisingly engaged. and it's that contradiction that i found refreshing. closed and yet open to discussion. and no, he wasn't trying to sway me. he was just simply stating his opinion.

i like this aspect of his personality and i'm not sure is a pisces trait or not...maybe it's the aqua influence but less "fixed?"

I think it may be a Pisces trait. I used to be like this much more so than I am now. I would have very civil "conversations" with people with different religious views and/or who had different views altogether. I would stand my ground with my points of view unwaveringly but still remain open to hearing what they had to say and responded. I am much more open minded I believe in this area than I used to be. I am very open now to other points of view on spirituality and will even stand corrected if I feel they have a valid point or at least let them know that I am pondering it further. I just looked and my mercury is Aries. Does that make a difference? I'm still unsure of all of these different astrological placements and what it means....lol.

@lauren - well, i dunno if we're compatible. i think in terms as the way we relate as individuals, yes. but he is a lot older so our social circles are different. it's nice to talk to him though...it's like 4am there and we just finished chatting. really nice guy.\

@stpatty - it's all a lil confusing to me too. i know what the planets influence individually but figuring out if it's his mercury (communication style ) that's at play or his mars (anger/aggression) is tough. try planets. i'm sure you've seen those links a thousand times but read it enough, it starts to make sense.

@phooey - i'm not disrespectful when it comes to religion. and for the most part, i wouldn't say he is either. although he does say somethings that would be insulting to someone with a less thicker skin. i don't desire to convert anyone so the issue isn't religion per se, it's engaging in a discussion and being closed to the unfolding of said discussion that we seem to be having small issues with.

if you score a point, i'll be the first to acknowledge and where it may not change my overall opinion, if it's puts a chink in my armor, i have no choice but to reevaluate. with Frenchy, i could point out something as simple as he focuses Roman Catholics as if that is the only religion and by doing so, his arguments are specific to RCC and therefore limited. he'll acknowledge that this is true, will start speaking of religion as a whole and go back to bashing the RCC.

so it's not a matter of intolerance, it's about having a rigorous, fair and healthy debate. i know when i'm arguing with a wall. he is one big wall and i guess some Pisces share this trait...as some have confirmed. i guess i just wanted to know, on an astro level, which sign i needed to look to more for understanding (as if it matters) and i guess i have my answer.

He makes perfect sense to me. He is just in a different stage of life. What is your age difference?

The answer:

All relationships need work. Just relax, enjoy what you have and don't think too much.

If it makes you happy consider it a gift and go with the flow. 😉

Be patient and what is meant for you it will come along.

dude, he is FORTY-NINE and lives in France. ain't but so much flowing this chicky can do but i've always been attracted to complicated situations so you're right...i shall flooooooooooooow wit it 🙂

You are contradicting yourself.

note the parts in bold.

dude is old. one issue.

dude lives in another country. another issue.

dating dude. yet another issue.

issue at hand? "Pisces Close-Minded and Yet Level?" --- has nada to do with age, location or dating; thus, where's the contradiction? liking him, potentially dating him, that's a whole notha can of worms. my interest was in Pisces thought process but yes, you are right, i do like him and let it unfold naturally. the latter isn't what this post is about though although the suggestion is welcome.
