Yesterday, I passed a man on his bicycle on my way to the bank. He's out there a lot, always pedalling on a very old and worn-out bike. He looks to be around 50 years old, always has on the same clothes and wears a handicapped-helmet.
Well, on my way back from the bank, I come across a scene in the road that wrenched me all the way inside my guts .. his bicycle was mangled in the road and he was laying just off the road. There were people standing over top of him and I pulled over to see if I could assist. Of course, the only thing I could do was try and console him. Poor guy, here he was, his arm bent in an inhuman fashion and the only thing that was on his mind was his precious bike. He was worried to death that his bike was broken .. and it was. The ambulance came, took him away. The police took his bike.
Several hours later, I was on my way to the store and here he is walking down the road, with his arm all bandaged up. I stopped and offered him a ride. He got in, but didn't know where he lived. So, I asked him if he was on his bike, would he know then how to get home. He said, "yes". So, off we went, him being the pilot. On our journey, I asked him if he had a phone and could call somebody. He said yes, but, doesn't know the number. The hospital was about 15 miles away and he had already walked about 5 of those miles. He said his arm was broken, which I knew it was and asked him why it wasn't in a cast. He just looked at me blankly and started crying because he lost his bicycle. I was in tears, driving down the road .. his whole life is his bike.
I was absolutely outraged that the hospital would send a mentally challenged man about his way with no assistance, no transportation .. the police could have taken in home for god's sake.

Thanks guys .. this is going to be so cool, he's gonna be so happy. It's still morning, so I have to settle down .. the stores aren't even open yet. Boy, I caught serious hell last night, but, I don't care.
It's going to be worth it when I see him up and down the road again, collecting "things".
I wish there was some other place for him to ride, though.

Please, by all means .. bullshit away, Solitas. Was his arm really broken? I'm not a doctor, it looked that way to me. He said it was, but, he also didn't know what the word "cast" meant, nor his address or phone number. Frankly, it doesn't really matter to me what you think, to be honest because I know what happened.
I found all my parts, but, now have to wait until my husband comes home to put the basket on. I'm also gonna make my husband go by there with me this evening to deliver the bike. Apparantly he needs some feelings .. apparantly most men do.

He got it the other night .. we went by his house. He was so tickled. Only, I guess he must like to clap his hands, cause he kept trying, but, couldn't. His arm was just in a bandage, and sling, so maybe it just dis-located .. I've no clue really.
I haven't seen him out yet, riding it .. but, I know I will. He was just like a little kid when the ice-cream man rings.
I think I'm still paying the price with the husband though, he's not real happy with me at the moment.

Naw .. he's just a tight-wad. Once, he nearly knocked me over to pick a penny up off the ground.
It's just about money .. and that's all.
