Seeking unique name for a Pisces baby boy

Hi, I was hoping to get some help in choosing a name for my first child, a son. He will be a Pisces. I was hoping for some suggestions from other Pisces as I can't seem to find a name I really like. (I'm an Aquarius)
We were sort of toying around with Elan or Caspian. But really my mind is completely open. Would love some feedback.
dylan is a cool name.
Haha, Pisces are kids at heart.....you won't get many serious answers in here. I love Dylan too btw. It's been in my list. I also like Kyle, Brian, and Scott.
I am not a Pisces, but I am a Scorpio w/ Sun conjunct Neptune. What about Orin?
It is a shortened version of Orinoco, a large river in the Venezuelan Rain Forest,
flowing out of the mountains. Almost 3,000 miles long, large sections of it are
still virtually inaccessible.
Grab an atlas and pick out a body of water that captures your interest,
read about it and be creative.

I keep trying to post this .. maybe I have it right this time ....

Like you, I had no idea what to name my son. He's a Gemini.
His name is Bram. like, rhymes with graham. Which I love, so that's my suggestion =) Its a wonderfully simply, yet unique name.. I'm hoping it doesn't get popular in years to come =)
I mean, I don't love that it rhymes with Graham, I love the name Bram. :p
Personally, I don't like it that people name their children oddball names.
children will go through many identity crisis in their youth, and it all stems from feeling on the outside, not having a common ground to feel like they are apart of another. When they can't find a connection anywhere, they often become so disillusioned about life that it affects their whole being quite dramatically.
Children tend to feel safe in things that they can relate to, that they share with another ... and a name is one of those things that kids connect with.
Don't any of you remember feeling comfortable with a person because of their name being yours or similar to it?
Just like with Graham, rhyming with that name made the mother feel so comfortable in the connection that when she spoke of it in here, she accidently made it sound like she was referring to that name being liked, instead of Bram. The point is, psychologically, a person finds subconscious similarities in other people (or things) in which to be drawn.
And looping this back to the struggle kids have with finding theirselves in life, I think children are more comfortable when they can share their name with another. And then at that point, they can find thier individuality, based off of this person they are connected to ...... rather than becoming an utter freak, weirdo due to not having a connection, while feeling like they have to define thierselves.

of course there are many ways in which a child can find connections with others ... but, I remember my childhood, and my son's childhood ... and names are important.
That link that the cap put up was good .... naming a child should be a very deliberate move and not just what gives the mother a good feeling in herself for finding a different one.
hello mothers out there ..... children don't want to feel different, they want to feel included

Congrats!! How about a Shakespearean names from something like The Tempest? Sebastian or Adrian. Are you Italian?Big Grin Stephano. Are you Religious? Moses. Are you Spanish? Rio(meaning river in Spanish?)

more here - I'd double check to see if their meaning is legit.
Thanks for the suggestions. I like Sebastian, I've always thought it was cute. Unfortunately my husband won't go for it...I have a month to wear him down though. Winking
"Don't any of you remember feeling comfortable with a person because of their name being yours or similar to it? "
No, actually...maybe it's because of the Aquarius-ness in me but I have always loved being different and have never in my life worried about being included or accepted. I have never enjoyed being around people who shared my name.
I want a unique name for my boy, but not an absurd one.
I also live in Hawaii in a liberal area and weird names are the norm here...I know babies named Rainbow, Zion and Ocean.
The suggestion about researching bodies of water was a great one..I think I'll do that!
Thanks for the help!
If I had to pick a cool watery name I'd pick River or Rio.
Let us know what you decide! Nothing too wack, okay? Other kids can be cruel Winking
To answer your question, I was the only one in my school with my name until I got to high school. Then there was one more of "me" and it annoyed me Tongue

OH yeah, I'm not going to go overboard with the name...I want my kid to be able to integrate with society without a big hassle. But I do want it to be something people haven't really heard as a name before! Something uncommon.
In other words ... you want to project your Aquarianness onto him.
You would like for him to be the oddball, because that's what you would like ... eventhough, it's suppose to be for him, not you.

I would suggest you read that link the Cap gave .. because clearly you aren't thinking about him.

You're completely wrong and how dare you insinuate I'm not considering the wellbeing of my child. That's laughable. I haven't chosen a name yet and a big reason why is because I want it to be right for him. I've agonized over this for months. If you have any reading comprehension you would take note I've already said in other posts that I don't want an absurd name, I'm not going to name him something bizarre. Neither do I want an average name. I don't want to name my child Bob, or Steve. Not for my little water dragon. I want a good name for a Pisces child, which is why I'm' on a Pisces forum asking for suggestions, not condemnation. I thought that would be obvious that I want a name appropriate for a water baby and you're assuming a lot about me and my intentions which I don't appreciate.
<"`.
It's your child, but realize he may be teased in school if you go too outlandish. He may also may be overlooked for jobs due to the "uniqueness" of his name as it may not fit the image of certain entities. The names you cite are some examples which may hinder opportunities! Of course, this will not apply to grocery store clerk, garbage man or street sweeper. But, go ahead and keep thinking of yourself on this matter... *shrugs*
My name is quite unusual. As a child I simply wanted to have a name 'like everyone else'. In elementary school. Winking All through junior and senior high school I thought it rocked. Still do to this day. It's NOT like everyone elses, making it unique. One thing for certain. If someone is nattering on about you, there is no shrugging it off. Congratulations on your up and coming little one. How about Seamus? smile

Manta Ray (Ray for short)
Earwyn "Friend of the sea"
Kelby "Place by the fountain; spring"
Dorian "Of the sea"
Nami "Surf, wave"
Ran "Water lily"
Umiko "Child of the sea"
Peirene "Lover of Poseidon"
Yoki "Rain"
Callan "Flowing water"
Tal "Dew of heaven"
Kevser "Name of a river in paradise"

Those are all GREAT ideas, thank you! Unique, but not too out there. I'm going to pass this list by my husband tonight!
Pangel, to address what you said, and not like it really matters but I love clarity, lol..
I had first typed something like "my sons name is Bram, which i love... Blah blah" and then when I re read it I added in there *which rhymes with Graham* since often people pronounce it differently. Which then kinda messed up what I was saying.
Any who.. I don't like the name Graham, but I agree in a sense that I was not personally interested in anything too unusual for my son. I wanted something rare, but simple and not too bizarre, which I believe I achieved.
Like the op, I did a lot of thinking, and didn't even name him until our 2nd day in the hospital. I wanted to see if he looked like a Bram first, and indeed it fits him well.

Lou ... I was using what you said to point out how the psyche works !! And not intended to call you out on what you named your kid in regards to it being bad or good.
Just like with the Aqua here .. she took it personal because that's what people do who take everything personally and cannot be objective.
And how you named your baby is awesome because you waited for it to fit him, rather than it be your choice exclusively, he should be considered and a part of the naming process, it is something that belongs to only him and will be he label for identity that he will form his character around.
Naming a baby is not game ... it's not for entertainment on a message board. A Pisces child is deep, looks like an Aquarius has a lot to learn about the Fish.
Soooo come up with a name OP?Big Grin
My name is unique and I loved that. I wouldn't want to throw a stone and hit 25 people with the same name as mine. Also I didn't feel like I was an outsider because many kids didn't share my name. Choosing a name that is also unique is the way to go in my opinion.
I think if he has a name that has a deeper meaning that would mean a lot to him. I love research so I would be excited if my name had a deeply rooted meaning that I could research and learn about other things with doing so. Also you can go with the nick name route which has a deep meaning. I adore the idea that his name has a meaning that aligns with water or a body of water. You can call him tuney (short for neptune our ruling planet) or something. Pisces are quirky just like you aquas. I do LOVE the name finn. I loved that ever since I read Great expectations...well his full name was finnegan. BTW he was a great artist and pisces LOVE their art. I wanted to name my son that but his father wasn't going for it.
btw my son's name is Dylan. Fits him like a glove. Bad thing is that it's very common. My daughter's name is Cammi. Only seen one other Cammi and that was on tv. She loves it as do I.

Hi! Actually I haven't picked one yet! I am having a really hard time. Only a few weeks until my baby is here!
I have a feeling it will be one of those things where I need to look at his face and into his eyes to choose the right name.

And the kind of school and social environment your child is brought up in largely determines how much acceptance the child will feel also.
I went to public schools, and elementary and junior high were rough. I dressed as a bohemian hippie kid in an upper-middle class environment where individuality wasn't as accepted, though I did have 1 or two close friends.
But highschool was great because I moved to a new district where few of the kids had a lot of cash, therefore pretenses were down and my unique thrift store chic style was admired. smile
Also, I had my little brother in a private waldorf-type school for a while and weird names and clothing were very common.
I think it's up to the parents have to be very conscious of how accepting the environments they place their children in. They're not all the same; some can be very encouraging of the individual and some can be totally toxic and damaging, by both other children and teachers and administrators.

I live in Puna, Hawaii and it's wild jungle hippie-ville here...people name their kids all sorts of crazy names and it's totally acceptable because the environment is just filled with those types of people. I am actually one of the more conservative people here! I'm an Aqua but my Mars is in Pisces...I feel like that will really help me out when it comes to my Pisces son.

These were some of the most merciful (male) Saints in Christian history, and since Pisceans try to be merciful with others, these names would be good for your son.
"Hey, mom..where did you get the idea for my name?"
"Ahh, some random stranger on a website called dxp suggested it"

Thats gonna be a happy kid
Why not? My father pulled my name out of Egyptian history. I still like Seamus. No warm, rousing response to it, but that's alright. I shall dub my virtual son such and give him loads of smooches. Tongue
That's 3 pisces for finn just sayn' lol
