Out of boredom I am starting this thread, if even just to talk to myself for the next few months.

Great thread. I'll be tuning in again. This week is a little busy.
I still watch the Raw after Survivor Series 98 where Rock gives his first promo as corporate champion every month. And I was listening to Owen Hart's nation theme all of last week.

hahah oh nightsy
I'm not nearly well versed enough to participate in this thread, but when I was younger....pre-12ish... I totally loved to watch the WWF. I was an Undertaker fan. I will wholeheartedly admit, that I thought it was real back then. lol til I smartened/hardened up, and kicked unrealistic out of my repertoire.click to expand

^Bret Hart had all the moves, a great story teller in the ring. I was sad when he left WWF

Aside from Montreal SS, I can't think of many matches I like from 97 in WWF but I think this was 97. The match that later gave birth to the NWO Fingerpoke of Doom

Dad and I would watch the PPVs with the video scrambled and listening to the audio like it was old timey radio. i'd be bouncing around the room like a maniac as I acted out the matches and just felt the energy of the event. sunday and monday nights were always a party. talk about escapism!

More wrestling nerdiness:
I memorized some of these speeches back in grade school and never forgot them. The one that starts off the first video, with Stone Cold and Vince in the ring. and then Austin's King of The Ring victory rant.
His character, namely this wild Sag (Dec 18) sticking it to authority and trusting no one, influenced me big time. To me, Bret Hart (July 2) and Steve Austin were like yin and yang. The humble hero/family man and the anti-hero who's more angry at the world yet carries a similar value system as the hero. Equally matched, but opposites. I thought they worked well together to pull off this dynamic. Though I stopped watching years ago, once upon a time, these words were gospel.

This is like some fascinating foreign language to me.
I feel so deprived

I used to watch wrestling when I was younger. I was probably about 12 or 13 when I saw an episode where they brought on two old ladies to talk about their book or something and then the wrestlers came in and sent them both out on stretchers. I think Big Show might've been there for that? I'm not sure. But, that pretty much scarred me and I took a few year hiatus from it after that. : (

I like the race and country angles at this time anyway. Controversy creates cash, as titles on Eric Bischoffs book.
Are Rock and Trips your faves Tiz?
I'm not as big on Rock as many people are, even though you can't help but like him a lot.
Triple H is indeed my favourite wrestler of all time.click to expand

Yeah I agree it is impossible not to like Rock.
Where as triple haitch is in the opposite for me, its hard for me to like him, but I do tryyy hahaha
Haha but that's why I love him so much. As a heel, that is. He made me hate him like no other at the time in his prime as the Cerebral Assassin and eventually that earned my lifelong respect.
My only regret is the Two Man Power Trip with Austin was cut short by his injury.click to expand

One thing I'll admit is Triple H could never be a top guy as a face. Just wasn't on the level of Austin or Rock as a face. But as a heel he had anyone beat.
