Why do people are such stupid?

Yesterday at English class...

We had a dictant. At the end of dictant teacher took our paper and gave to next student and vice versa to check typos.

I got the paper of a girl student. There was this sentence: "Now most US people eat chicken, turkey and vegetables". She wrote turkey as Turkey which means country. I changed it to small "t" and wrote underneath "Country cannot be eaten" as a matter of joke. It was a joke but it was true too.

She says: "Why do you write this stupid thing there?". I say "It's just a joke". She says "A person who didn't do joke so far will start joking now?".

Ahem...

WTF? I WAS JUST A JOKE!! Why to BS like that?

What do you people think?

Also I do not joke among them because of such DUMBA $ $ E $ you know?

I felt quite uneasy there. I didn't wanted to say rude things (and I wished to do that badly), but somehow my education of being "civilised" stopped me doing so. What were you do if you were me?

Being precuasitive is really sucks. This is not me. I want to make jokes even if I don't know about joking style of that person. This is what am I. However I see that some people can't take a little joke and become upset. This shouldn't stop making me what am I. This is not right. I guess this is like Russian rulet. You either shot the right person or not. Some people do get the joke some are not. Who cannot take the joke, this is their problem. Not mine. I think this is what is the right thing to do. I think my problem here is actually taking such people seriously. I do change my behaviour according to that. That is wrong. Knowing that I do joke and nothing more is giving driving force towards people. This is what is important.

What are you thinking now about her,well there ya go as the possibility of what she may be thinking you think maybe and she yeah could've been insulted by it.If you try to joke and they miss it can't really hold it against them,they may just not be in the right frame of mind for seeing it as a joke,she may have been having a bad day,you never know what it is unless you clear it up that it was just a joke.Not only so you don't have to get confused,angry or whatever but to also let her know that she wasn't being insulted.Me thinky the both of you took things a bit too seriously and is sensitive regarding it as to the reactions is all.Maybe alittle talking could work with this one.

I told her that it was a joke. Instead of shutting up she insulted me by telling "The person who do not joke will joke now?". Why should I gave her another chance? She splatted the chance back to my face.

Ah,she took you seriously because you are always serious,you know her side of it then already if you choose to use it.Why you should give her another chance because insulting her wasn't the intention so if you apologize for it and she still doesn't take it then it's on her than yes.Also have you reacted similar to her towards her before,like reverse the situation?What do you think may be the reason for it without her being stupid okay,theres always reasons?Seems kinda like theres more to it than just that on her side.

Honestly it wasn't that funny so you do have a dry sense of humor.She has a point but could've done it so you'd get what she was saying better but stop worrying about it if that's the case.But of course gotta tell ya it doesn't mean she's stupid either for not finding it funny.Different sense of humors seems to be the differance here and moodswings.

Tell me please. What does mean "The person who didn't make joke until now, will start making joke now?". Don't you see an insult here? It means something like that: "You weren't joking so far, so shut up". What business do she has with when I make a joke and when do not? She should be worried about the interior about the joke not about how I behave. It's same with saying me what to do. Do you see that part? What if I deliberately don't make any joke? Does that makes me the person who doesn't have right to a joke? Who the hell she is to tell me what to do?

I didn't say offencive speech should be allowed. I disagreed with P.C. because it limits expressing problems, not because he doesn't allow free speech. Of course she allowed to say anything she want, but not allowed to seek my attention for the second time.

I think she simply lacks some sence of humour. There are alot of them like that here. She simply has so miserably life, that there is no even place for joke in it. Thats all.

You were given a paper to check typos, not comment on typos....so in the strictest sense you over stepped your bounds.
If you added an indicator of humour, graphic or otherwise...maybe the joke would have been clear....

A fellow student is a peer and unless you have a clear comfort zone with them..an unclear comment is not appropriate..

Also..to speak demaeningly of one who did not understand you humour is unkind.

I was only laughing at the very first post. I stopped reading after that b/c it was 3 pages worth of posts and I didn't have the time. But, the first post was very humourous, for me anyways...

We were stundents in that class. We do make jokes to each other. I don't think I overstepped my well-mannered behaviours. I don't throw jokes to people that I have nothing to do. In my case, we were in the same class. What she did was very rude and very probable she has impaired sence of humour. Probably shy too. Well she suck as a student too.

Maybe I stepped my border somewhat. You right I wasn't being asked to comment about mistakes. But that doesn't change the fact that she is just a piece of sh!t. Also if you take life from your point of view, then no one should joke to anyone. Because it is not something that people ask you to do them. I never heard anyone who say "Ok you are not allowed to joke with me now, here is my sign on the paper". Do you understand that?

People should be open to others. You simply can't put people behaviours on such strict rules. Then we are not humans anymore. We are machines. You can't live like that. There are things in the world that is not bound to the rules.

What I'm saying- people joke with you.. you don't always see the humor- and you say, "don't say such things to me.." or you'll get upset. Are you stupid because you didn't find them funny? Should you accept whatever it is people say to you? Should you shrug things off just because someone was joking- and never mind that you were offended?...

Because that's essentially what you're saying about this woman. You joked, she didn't get it..and said, "don't do that.." and because of this-- she's stupid. Instead she needs to open up her mind.

Let me explain it to you.

When I joke to someone in real life, I smile them. That signs that I am joking. If you turn back and tell something that she did, this is rude.

When I joke to someone in this board, I put smile just like this one -> 🙂 Which means I joke. There may be some posts where I didn't put those smiles. But what can I do, we are humans, we do mistakes.
