What do you think about people who don't vote?

Posted by brianafay
Don’t care but they don’t really have a right to bitch then

Posted by Antiochus
People shouldn't have a right to not vote and should be punished with a fee if they fail to participate in elections.
Add one option that say's that one is not statisfied with current state of politics and things that they can tick off and political parties would have a much harder time trying to say that everyone is happy while the opposite is the case.

So basically your saying force people to vote so they can continue to measure demographics to keep business running as usual. I think It's better to not give an opponent a chance to adapt to your strategy
If 30% of your population would say that they don't feel represented or don't agree with any of the oplitical parties it becomes very hard to justify a buisness as usual attitude. So, no, I'm saying the exact opposite.click to expand

You stated everyone should be required to vote, even if they don't agree with any political standing. The act of participating is still considered inclusion. If they determine people are unsatisfied they will adjust. I'd rather not give them the heads up
So, you are saying it's a bad thing if political parties change and adapt because a significant proportion of their population isn't statisfied?click to expand

Braindead people . They got such dumb excuses like "it's all the same", "all politicians are alike", "you can't change anything" like they're these edgy rebels lol
I don't know how it works in the US but over here we can vote blank. It still counts as a vote for those who feel unrepresented by any party. I think it could possibly be the strongest vote if you truly want to change the political climate

Posted by 777
So you think people who choose not to vote are braindead?

Posted by enfant_terriblePosted by 777
So you think people who choose not to vote are braindead?
Absolutely, definitely.
That is if they have any (supposed!) interest in politics and choose not to vote simply because they figure everyone are crooks. So what is their logic - they'll take it up the ass like everyone else, only without a fight? Not voting is not an act of anything.
But reality of it is that those who don't vote don't really know much about politics or where they stand. They may even be insecure about it. So they basically don't vote in part bc they want to feel superior ,like they are above things they know nothing about.. Very basic people. White trash even.
There is only one valid reason not to vote and it is that you have absolutely 0 clue about politics and don't wish to educate yourself. You are braindead and that is fine. But plz don't serve it with a load of bs to feel better about being dumb. "Err they are all crooks, nothing ever changes anyway" "It's just a charade" "Jews own everything anyway".
However, you feel unrepresented? Fine, use the blank vote. It's the biggest act of rebellion you can do, politically speaking.click to expand

You didn't provide any insight to under which circumstances it would be acceptable to call that democracy, as you do. You just sort of say "you have no understanding".... just like with your conspiracy theory about your votes not being counted, you just sort of throw it out there.
You want statistics? Stop being lazy expecting to be served and dig into it. If you're gonna question a whole system you better have some reason aside from wanting to feel edgy. So have you done any research??

It has nothing to do with being "edgy" lol. You put that on me...I didn't claim it. Statistics can easily be changed to fit the narrative of whatever is being discussed...you can research till your brain explodes...doesn't make your findings truth but people believe it anyway. 🤷.

No they can't if the person reading it isn't a basic idiot. I mean it seems sensible to read the fine print on how the research was conducted before reading any statistics. That's half the job.

If you don't vote, you are essentially giving power over to other people to decide for you who is going to be affecting your life. You also lose your privilege to bitch about leaders and politics since you didn't vote. Why should you have any say to complain about them when you didn't vote to make your voice heard?

I am a man of few words. Especially when it comes to typing on my phone lol
But to answer your second question, I think voting can be an integral part of a "healthy" society.
Now is the time to act, not vote.
If someone is not a voter then why even speak on it? do and not vote? Voting is an important part of "doing". Actually influencing things politically. Nobody not the candidates nor voters are interested in people who are supposedly not interested in voting...talking about voting. The people with enough sense to vote will and the ones who dont will remain irrelevant to the process. This is one of those things where...I dont know why some people get into the over thinking and getting things so far from where they are thing but voting is simple and a simple concept. All the "going to Mars" so to speak with things is useless. But people arent impressed with nonvoters nor do they too much think about them I dont think. As long as people do their part and vote its a freeing and empowering feeling I have come to find. There are different reasons some people dont vote some more understandable than others but in the end its losing Nobody is interested in nonvoters bs.click to expand
