Self-delusion for sure.

Being alone is far superior than to not have a grip on reality.

...unless of course, reality is a social construct....

yes.

I have questioned that as well.

But is there any way around it?

Well, self-delusions - are usually among the main outcomes of social rejection. Also, self-delusion is not always dangerous. I mean, some people found hope in a religious belief (or any other belief that revolves around positive thinking), others adopted a "fake it till you make it mentality to achieve some goal" - and then there's optimism - which is rarely based on empirical evidence (the factual reality / so many of us got disappointed cause of this one - big time even ). Even confidence - tends to involve a doze of self-delusion (for some quite big). Social rejection on the other hand, well... if it happens at an early age and involves groups of people - can to be quite harmful on said individual (worst case scenario - it can imply suicide, or school shootings - in places like U.S - where fire arms are more accessible). One thing's for sure - if he/she somehow makes it to adulthood - he/she's sure to be a damaged adult (be it when it comes to social interactions or ones views on society / highly delusional - if you will). I guess it depends - to what extent is one socially ostracized. For example, imagine being gay in a time and place - where everyone around you sees gayness as the plague (especially your family). Here's a short movie on this subject:

Even so, the children who experience social ostracism and bullying only at school (they still had their share of healthy social interactions with family and some friends from the neighborhood) - have high chances to come out alright (while leaving that past experience behind / more often than not - the parents intervene). Last but not least... social ostracism is not a personal choice, but self-delusions usually are (after reaching a certain age - or more like - a certain level of maturity... then again - that's more a matter of "if" than "when").

I'm trying to suss out why you would pit the two against one another. That is more interesting to me than answering the question. I agree with @metatron that interactions with other people are what teach us the most about self, including our delusions.

Gem sun/Pisces moon

both are harmful and also..... annoying. people seem to use the former as a tool all the time but then when it's used against them, they get so annoyed lol. it's harder to trust the first than the second IMO coz it involves so much more people.

Are you talking about forum behavior or real life? I think it's a mistake to confuse the two because if people behaved in real life the way they do on this forum, the murder rate would be a lot higher.
