Can being competitive with someone over little stuff be a sign of jealousy?

To anyone wanting more of a clarification. I meant little things like “I can do more push-ups than you” “I bet my smartphone has more gigabytes than your smartphone.” “I bet I can run faster than you.” You know stuff like that.
Maybe you’re just trying to prove to yourself you’re better, and that makes you feel like you are good enough.

I’m not talking about me, I’m just talking about scenarios in which people try to compete with over nonsense like that and other scenarios.

Depends on the two people in the relationship. Me and my boy are naturally playful (Aries-dominant Vs Leo-dominant) so it's safe to say we drive each other crazy on a daily basis even when we're dealing with 107F heat.

He's been working out since before he had pubes so he loves to make fun of me for being more laid back when it comes to active fitness. I blame my Sag rising. But we're just goofing around, we don't put each other down in a mean way. It's all in the name of fun.

That's because we're both confident people and we don't feel the need to put others down in order to raise ourselves above them for a cheap confidence boost. But if you're dealing with a generally insecure person, then that competitive spirit can easily be fueled by envy because their partner is better than them on many levels.

You see that on DXP all the time anyway, insecure little bitches putting others down & bullying them because those people are superior to themselves in many ways.
