Do u think being on birth control has effected ur

relationships in the past or now? I'm goin crazy on the birth control right now and ive been on it for a year. I used to be really happy but now i just cry at absolutely nothing. I can just be staring at the wall and something sad pops up in my head and i start balling lol. Tell me ur experiences ladies or men!

I have not taken it but my first love started really getting ugly emotionally once she started taking it. Another girl I dated started taking it after about a month of us dating and then a month later that ship hit the reef. I am not saying they are completely to blame, but it doesn't seem to make things much easier other than eliminating 95% of your baby conceiving chances...

I feel like I'm the only girl who doesn't get too many side effects on birth control... or most pills at that. I stay religious to my birth control because I am taking no chances at getting pregnant. As for the question, they haven't caused any issues with my relationships. If I had any mood swings, they had less to do with my birth control and more to do with my anxiety.

I'm on the pill for 6 months now, the one with low level of estrogen. The first month was hell. I had period for 2 weeks, well more like spotting, and I retained water like a balloon!!!! I was depressed and emotional during the day, and then by evening I would put all my efforts to feel a bit better, close to ok. The mood swings, and the feeling of weakness through my whole body continued for 2 months.
Finally, after the 3rd pack I felt myself again, except no cramps 🙂
As for the weight gain... I did put on some weight- 3kg I believe, but I've lost them last month. I'm not sure it has to do with the pills, because I was in a relationship I wasn't happy with, and as soon as I realized that, I began to cut off chocolate, and the guy as well. No problems now.
And the new guy is just not influencing my appetite in a bad way 🙂 Sweet 🙂

What a woman is like while she's on birth control is a good indicator of how she'll be if she's actually pregnant.

Birth control has the same affects on a woman's body the same as if she were really pregnant...weight gain...uncontrollable mood swings...mild physical discomfort...etc.

It's up to the other person to be understanding & recognize when the woman on the birth control is being a certain way either b/c she can't control it OR her being that way on purpose b/c she absolutely can control it.

Depending on how strong that couple is & how understanding each person is determines whether or not the relationship will take a huge hit in the end.

I was on the shot back when I was a teen. Oh boy, I had the craziest mood swings! And while my man at the time was very understanding & was educated on how birth control affects/changes women, he also couldn't help but to still be upset whenever I'd suddenly get moody or get too sensitive.

It wasn't that he was mad at the birth control & it's effects. No he was confused & frustrated b/c the birth control changed me into a person that he'd never dealt with before.

We stuck through it though b/c he knew that the side effects were only temporary & he felt in his heart that he loved me enough & that I was worth it enough. He knew that persay I'd been pregnant & had been acting that way that he'd still stick it through with me so he figured that he'd be a coward to leave me while I had the same effects even though I wasn't even pregnant

Krysrenee7- very good & valid points. Right now, my bf and I are having problems and being on the pill is not only making it worse, but has split us apart for the moment. I told him, me acting so emotional might be because of the pill, so i'm taking a break from it for the better. But who knows, maybe it was just me being emotionally silly all along? lol Anywayysss about having ur man stay with u, when ur on the pill, because its much like being prego is good if ur just emotional, but if u got a whole lot of other issues, it just makes it THAT much harder.

Well there are many other situations that can happen in a woman's life that can cause her the same symptoms: Job loss, loss of a loved one, depression, an actual pregnancy, etc.

So while your man is not technically obligated to put up with emotional instability regardless of the reason, it'd only make sense that a relationship that is set in stone shouldn't be calling it quits all b/c of a temporary (KEYWORD) rough patch.

If the relationship crumbles now b/c of the pill, it'd probably crumble if any of the other above circumstances came about. And in that case, you 2 oughta work on making the foundation a little more stronger than it is now.

I think the keyword though is TEMPORARY. It's alot easier for a person to put up with what THEY consider to be "bullshxt" or instability IF they figure that the craziness is only temporary. Now if you've given him the impression that your crazy mood swings & emotional flip-flopping is here to stay, it'd be more likely that he'd fly the coop alot faster!

He knows that birth control is important...problem is, he knows that craziness comes with that territory, so while he may love you too death, maybe there's just some things he can't deal with for prolonged periods of time...which is understandable, IF it goes on for long periods of time

Pretty much this. Every girl is different, and every reaction to a pill will be different. I've read so many horror stories, and to be honest, they are what made me wait so long to actually start my birth control when I was 17. I was terrified of the side effects and what would happen when I started the pill. But when my periods become out of control, I had no choice but to force myself, and I found out that I didn't suffer any adverse effects at all... minus some minor bloating when I first began. I've stayed with the same brand for four years now, Loestrin, or I've tried the generics of this brand. They've all worked for me no matter how many times I've switched up or took a hiatus from the pill.

So yes, it's all about trial and error. I suppose my only thing is you can personally bash a brand of pill if it didn't work for you, but to say that brand is bad wouldn't be necessarily true because all women react differently. I've seen scathing reviews of loestrin by many women, but if I didn't listen to the reviews and just tried it out, and I've turned out completely fine (and not pregnant, and with a stable cycle).

I love the pill I am on now so much that I would take it even if I didnt need it. On it I lost weight, my skin got even clearer, I was able to get my Bi-polar in order, and my boobs grew! but the pill before was awful!

I believe it can effect your relationship. I was a moody depressive aggressive bitch while I was on it. Not like me at all! and it put weight on me which also made me self conscious which was a big shock for my partner at the time as I had always been so confident before. It took a while to realise it was the pill doing it to me as it just kind of creeped up on me, I started to think that that was just the way I was. It helps to keep a diary of your moods to see if there is a pattern.

To be honest though I took a break from the pill and the week before my period I cried for the whole week and acted like a crazy person! haha but atleast that was only for one week and I could plan for the moodiness. but the pill I am on now stopped all that, would never want to go back to being that way!
