I've never understand this...why should I have to get permanent ink engraved into my skin just to prove that I love you or that I'll always be with you, loyal to you, ect..all the crap that people claim is the reason they get their S/O's name tatted on them.

I'm not even gonna start on the folks who look like fools now after still having the tatt on them even after the break up.

Hell, let's say that the relationship actually WILL work out & last forever...why the ink?

This is the story that came to mind & aided in me writing this post: This chick was so excited that her man had decided to get her named tatted on him. She kept bragging about it. Weird thing is, this guy had repeatedly cheated on her for 5+ years & when she finally threatened to leave him for good, he got her name tatted on him. He did this as if doing so was going to change what was going on INSIDE of him. We all told her, "Um...him getting your name tatted on his body does NOT prove that he's willing to change and/or stop cheating on you! And you're an idiot if you suddenly believe that him getting your name tatted on himself is a substitute for fidelity!"

It was almost as if all of this girl's insecurities went away the min. her man got her name tatted on him. Almost as if him putting that ink there was her version of how he oughta "fix" his fidelity problems.

I know, I know...I get that if someone is willing to put your name on themselves permanently, that they probably do love the hell out of you, BUT again, why the ink?

Then another girl I knew had "CJ's Nasty Girl" tattooed right above her booty. Smh... of course they broke up. LOL

Wowwww. It's almost as if getting tatts of the other person's name jinx the relationship. Actually, I've heard that superstitious people believe that getting someone's name/initials tattoed on you while they're still ALIVE is a big no-no & can jinx things.

I've only seen 3 couples in my entire life time who are actually STILL together to this day, even though they have each other's names tatted on eachother.

And best believe!..if I get my man's name tatted on me, he's gonna get mine tatted on him too! I always crack up laughing when I see some chick with big ass letters on her neck that say, "Cj's baby!" but yet when I ask her man where his tattoo of her name is, he always looks like, "Ha! Yeah right! NEVER!"

My ex-husband had his girlfriends initialed tatted on his arm when he was a teenager.... then later after he became engaged to his first wife she insisted that he cover them up so he had them converted into her intials.... their marriage lasted all of 8 months. So, when we started dating he asked if I wanted him to cover them up with my name... I said HELL TO THE NO... we see how those relationships lasted.... instead I told everyone that the intials MBO meant Mighty Big Organ... why do you think I marred him? LMAO!!!

He eventually did have them covered with something else, but I insisted that names or initials were and instaneous recipe for failure!

It's 1 thing to see an immature 18 year old getting his/her partner's name inked on their bodies b/c hey, that's what young people do. All we can do as adults is just HOPE/WISH that they'll realize 1 day how foolish that decision was.

There's nothing more gut wrenching than to see a grown ass man with those kinds of tattooes on his body, especially if he's got multiple names on him. The 1st time? Ok, that's fine! Hey, we all do crazy things in the spur of the moment when we're in love. But by the time you're ready to get another person's name tatted on you, that's when your memory & common sense oughta come back & remind you of why it's such a bad idea in the 1st place
