"A woman's highest calling is to lead a man to his soul, so as to unite him with The Source. Her lowest calling is to seduce, separating man from his soul and leave him aimlessly wandering."
"A man's highest calling is to protect woman, so she is free to walk the Earth unharmed. Man's lowest calling is to ambush and force his way into the life of a woman."
~Cherokee Proverb
I found this one day while researching my heritage.

My godmother is 1/8 cherokee. You must be eligible for all sorts of grants/funds etc. Not to mention eligible to dig up great proverbs, of course.

My great grandmother was full Cherokee. I never knew her personally but I know a great deal about her. I have a couple of pictures and she left a lot of teachings behind. This wasn't one of them but I did find it on Google.

The proverb makes me mad. How dare it tell me what my highest calling in life should be.
I like this. Thanks for sharing. : )
I do tend to be difficult like that.

But, yes. I meant what I said.

I get that this is supposed to be about love.

But I will not listen to it tell me how I should go about it.
I know what love is and its not this bull crap. Its so simple yet so much more.
The idea of dragging myself behind a woman to guard her as she roams the world not giving a fuck infuriates me.
I don't need a woman to guide me to my soul. I know what I am. I don't need anyone to tell me.

I didn't post it to tell you what to do or how to love. I posted it to give an alternative viewpoint. You're free to take it how you want and live your life as you choose.
Please don't misunderstand me. I appreciate what it was trying to do. I only meant to criticize its imperative tone and provide an alternate angle of interpretation. I already know I have the choice not to follow it.
I didn't learn all the things I know now by accepting them without question. I must see them all differently first.
This is beautiful. I read this book and the writer was saying that a woman is like Pocahontas paddling her canoe down the river, singing, taking in an enjoying all the beauty that is around and it is our job to bring a man in and opening his heart to all the beauty that is around. I've always remembered that. And feel this goes with it.
Thank you for sharing this!!
This is very Beautiful, I seen it before and still love it...
I believe it. Just because it goes beyond to romantic sense.
Meant* the romantic sense*
