Do you like to have these around you so you look good?

This way, you are always one step above.

Kind of like a wedding party .... the Bride makes damn sure that her attending ladies are wearing hideous dresses, so she is the one who outshines everybody else.

Do you find yourself doing that in real life relationships? I've heard a couple people say in here that they are with a partner they think is ugly ... and I was like wtf? And there are a couple others I know that are with people to whom one is very attractive, the other not so much.

I have a friend in real life who is absolutely gorgeous, and her husband not .. in fact, he wants to have children and she won't because of this ... yet, she stays with him.

Is this normal? Do you find that you do this? And maybe not even referring to looks ... perhaps, personality / disposition also ... you always want to be better.

"I can see why some people would want others around them that they find beautiful to boost their self-esteem. Not even entirely certain if that's even a good booster."

No, it's not, in fact it would make the self esteem worse, I should think because it would enhance a false sense of self-image.

However, this is something I've encountered a few times in here ... and I was astounded to say the least. So, I was curious who feels this way.

They did a study on the Oprah Show in December 2008, & the study found that 87% of people who considered alot of others (other than themselves) ugly were dealing with some kind of self-esteem issue and/or had just gone through a major life crisis. So if anything, it shows that what you might consider ugly changes throughout your life cycles. What you considered ugly at age 18 might be considered sexy at age 25 or 36. Maturity & your own self-esteem has a BIG effect on what you consider to be ugly.

And I mean come on, the FIRST Thing people see are looks. BUT, even through your looks there's a certain persona & body language that one carries that says MORE about them than just what they look like. Sometimes you can look at someone & see thier vibrant personality in just how they walk. Shallow people are only paying attention to the clothes & how well or horrible they fit. The point is that even through looking at someone physically, there should be more than just LOOKS that you can automatically tell about that person.
