What is a casual relationship?

Dating more than one person at a time? Dinner dates? Sex? How much communication should one expect, and how do you know if the person is actually interested rather than just wanting a FWB thing?
This is all new territory to me ... I went from divorced straight into an exclusive relationship, which now feel suffocating. I just don't know what "normal" expectations are.
