Did you pull back on the Sag or were you pursuing the Sag too much?
I pulled back a little but then he also was saying how his aunt was on him about saving money, getting in school and getting himself together before talking to someone. So then he was like I may be distant but this is why. He also left to go see his kids but still. He was on my ass heavy then he backed up.
Why would he talk about spending money? Was he paying for everything? Guys are so funny blaming stuff on someone else. Such a cop out.
Depending on how much he spent and if he was footing the bill for a lot, he could've thought you were a gold digger (this is based on the very little that I read)

A week isn't anything. and there's a reason why you guys aren't seeing each other. I wouldn't look too much into it. Fall back and let him contact you once he's back. Then you two can pick up like normal.
It's not necessary to keep checking in when he's told you he's busy.

Listen to sagurl88 advice. It's solid.
Dude has a lot on his plate and his life is messy atm. If he cares, he will return. The fact that he is keeping taps on you adds weight to that assumption.
You you are looking to engage him when he can't put real effort into building a relationship with you, I would suggest relating to him while being playful without the expectation of a timely response.

I’ve seen all of this and to add seem to be very harsh or critical on themselves about small things. He did contact me though yesterday and it suprised me definitely.

The thing I don't understand is that she's a fire stellium and fire dominant. I always thought firery women is suppose to be horny and want sex a lot. I'm not one to complain. I'm happy to not be with one who begs for sex constantly.
As far as the understanding each other part goes. I gotta say Sagittarius women understand me more than most. And what's more they'll compromise and get involve in all your activities. How to know if Sag man is interested? Easily, because we will be so sweet, kind, and charming, tease you back and forth and see how you respond to it...if you respond in a similar way and are responsive, then our fire starts burning inside of us, and after positive reactions, we are just trying to move fast and close the deal so to speak, so we will be physical soon after that, so yeah, pretty obvious. Ofc, light touches, and getting closer and closer. But if you act like a cold queen, that would be an instant turn-off and can be really annoying. But on the other hand, if you are feminine, intelligent, positive, and sexy...damn, then it will be hard to resist. 
Definitely not persistent/annoying if the other side is not responsive, because if they cannot realize that they are missing a great opportunity, then it's their loss, and we move on quickly...but if the other side is flirty and responsive, then yeah, unless it is some kind of a definitive no for an answer, or being rude, we will persist, but our pride is beyond anything.

This Sag moon guy i used to be friends with but didnt speak to for a long time was so bait with his message. I said congrats to his degree on social media, he said thanks and i didnt respond after bc i didnt really feel like doing the whole catch up messaging about whats happening in life rn. Then I liked a pic of his a while after and he messaged again saying just realized i didnt ask you how you were. I respond and then he stops responding after a couple messages when I asked if he wanted to catch up on zoom. I felt like he just needed his ego to feel like he was leaving me on read instead of him being the last to have a word lol

Usually Sag people are bad at communication. I know I am. He could've answered and been rushing and just said thanks, while multitasking. When you liked his pic, he most likely remembered he didn't finish getting back to you and then did so.
I don't have much of an ego when it comes to leaving someone on read. That's because I forget and if I don't get another text or reminder of sorts, it goes unnoticed. But as for zoom, maybe he was busy. You just take it as a no and move on and text another day if you want. It's not that big of a deal.
Just like in here, Sags are rarely on the boards because we are living life, which includes not being tied down with messages or tons of calls, or doing video calls where we have to stop and show people where we are. Video calling is very invasive in my opinion, I don't even answer those types of calls.
Sagittarius forum is one of the deadest places here, if you notice.
But anyways, Sag moons are different then Sag suns.
In my experience they will be one of two ways:
