Sagittarius & Cancer

Cancer is rather "up close and personal" in character, while Sagittarius is more gregarious and independent. Cancer is emotional and sensitive, taking words quite personally, while Sagittarius is not exactly known for tact when it comes to expressing thoughts or facts...even, on occasion, being prone to exaggeration. With a Sagittarius individual, what is on his or her mind is usually freely expressed without much thought beforehand. The preferred life style s of this combination are very different affairs. Cancer loves the home and all things familiar. Sagittarius adores the unknown, is a taker of risks and something of a vagabond by nature, being extraordinarily fond of adventure and far-away places. Home to Sagittarius natives is wherever they happen to find themselves, or a place to return to after they have been away for a while on some interesting adventure. Thus, in basic terms, there is not much in this pairing to make for a lasting relationship (or even a short-term one), and Cancer may come to be overly-envious of Sagittarius' self-confidence. However, Sagittarius is such an interesting character and the ability of Cancer to "bend until it hurts" cannot be underestimated, particularly when coupled with attraction to the optimism and carefree attitude displayed by Sagittarius individuals. At the very least, Sagittarius will be initially drawn to Cancer's caring and protective nature...and there is always the shared characteristic of a wonderful sense of humor. However, Sagittarius is prone to be very blunt and may inadvertently...or even intentionally...hurt the sensitive Cancer partner, the result being that Cancer will be devastated while Sagittarius goes merrily on to something else.
If this combination does prove successful, then Cancer will be the perfect host or hostess for the parties which Sagittarius loves to throw. However, Cancer does have a tendency to smother Sagittarius, who will resent this and view it as stifling to his or her desire for freedom. This pairing is bound to clash eventually, since the natures of the two involved parties are vastly different. Although, in theory, differences can complement each other...and sometimes do...in this instance, both partners would need to be immensely creative and imaginative in order to find ways to meet the needs of all concerned.
