I want to go out into the woods and just survive for a while. Maybe a day, maybe two days. Maybe longer. I just have that need to get out there and be in the wild and ride horses (or a mule). To build snares and traps and shoot prey with my arrows. I've had this desire since I was very little. My aunt says she used to have the desire too and that I just need to get out there and do it like she did. My poor Aries man lol
Was just curious if any other sags felt this desire to be out there?

Do any of you like to camp, to hunt, to live off of what you've killed or live in something you've made? Ah the great outdoors. 🙂

Yes a good teepee would be very nice to have. I remember when I was younger my aunt and I used to want to get one so bad.
Glad to see there are others who feel similarly.

One of my best buddies from High School lived with his grandparents, who had a great teepee. His Grandpa was involved in Mountain Man/Rendezvous meets, so he bought the best teepee he could find. It was huge inside! I had no idea they were so roomy. Now and then 4 or 5 of us would set it up and camp out for a weekend and stay up late into the night swapping lies and having fun. I'd love to have one like that. A wall tent might be more practical for me though. For North Dakota hunt camp when Sag buddy and I go up there, it would be nice to have a wall tent that would accommodate a small, portable wood stove.

Plus when i get my property, it's the sort of thing I would set up and actually live in at certain times of the year. Why pay for AC during good sleeping weather, when it's so nice outside late in the evening and into the morning? A nice little bed, maybe a small table and chairs... hell yeah.

So what do you intend to hunt with your bow? I'm a pretty pathetic shot with a bow, but I'm pure hell with a rifle.

I'd love to live in a teepee. And exactly, why pay for AC when the weather is so nice.
Honestly I think if I went hunting I'd prob want to use a more modern bow like a composite bow. Prob want to go for something small like a squirrel or rabbit first since I know how to skin those and I like a moving target. Rifle might be fun, but I hear it hurts your shoulder after a while. Idk anything that requires precision I'm all for it.

Wow lot of good info I didn't know. Good to keep in mind, though I probably won't be shooting anything larger than a deer. Would be fun to shoot something off horse back. My cousin's husband says while he's riding out in the woods he can get pretty close to the deer. Guessing the horse mask the human smell or something. Plus it would be easier to carry the carcass back if I could just pack it on the back of a horse or mule, though I'd need to learn how to tie it on properly.

Lol actually that donkey killing the mountain lion was a mule and he wasn't killing the lion. The story came out to be fake a few years back that the mule was only biting the lion after the owner had shot it. But I wish he really had killed that lion. You're right tho, donkeys do make great guards against wolves and coyotes. They got that great instinct. So do mules which is why I want one. Smart as a donkey, very calm, but has the height of a horse.
Though I hear if you plan on going out riding with mules you'll want to take a horse because the mules are more likely to stay around where a horse is then if it's just a bunch of mules.

Would love to get my own plot of land too and build a nice log cabin on it. Horse really aren't that hard to care for and mules are even cheaper. They don't even need shoeing and don't need the grains horses need. Plus don't get sick as often cus horse don't know how to limit their food intake.

I need to get to the point where I remember all these gun names lol. The only guns we own at my house are pistols, but the people at the place I volunteer at have a butt load of rifles. They're constantly hunting, constantly buying bullets. Just hoping they don't pass a gun ban. So silly
