suite interconnectivity

i am thinking hard on buying the adobe creative suite web premier cs4. however a friend of mine just bought the production premier version and has been having tremendous problems with the programs crashing. he says he suspects the dynamic linking between the interconnected software is to blame for troubles. troubles that have caused him to reinstall several times already over the last three weeks.
i have cs2 photoshop, and in design, which are extremely stable, and would like to upgrade, if only for the 3d ability of cs4 extended.however i have never had any trouble between any of the various software in the suite.anybody here have more than one cs4 program dynamically linked?( the demos do not have this feature)
also any body have fireworks and soundbooth? are they as redundant and pointless as their demos? they help inflate the price of the suite, but as far as i can tell they really do not add much.fireworks looks like a jazzed up image ready with the ability to insert html code.not really something i'm going to lean on, really give me photoshop cs4 or any photoshop and i'm supposed to make my web graphics in fireworks?!

i think i'll stick to what works for now.nothing in the demos makes we go ooh, aahh, gotta, gotta, gimmee,gimmee.
